The Sony Alpha a7 V

The α7 V is the fifth generation of Sony's Alpha 7 line. It pairs a 33MP partially stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor with the BIONZ XR2™ processor. A built-in AI unit powers the system. Together, they deliver fast autofocus, subject tracking, colour accuracy, and versatile stills and video performance.

Autofocus & Speed

Real-time Recognition AF uses 759 phase-detection points. These cover 94% of the frame. Subject tracking operates down to EV -4.0. Animal and bird recognition speed is up to 30% faster than the previous model. Continuous shooting reaches 30 fps, blackout-free, with full AF/AE tracking. Max electronic shutter speed is 1/16000 sec.

Video & Stills

The camera captures 7K-oversampled 4K 60p full-frame video. High-speed 4K 120p is available in Super 35mm mode. Dynamic range reaches up to 16 stops.

Stabilisation

A 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system compensates up to 7.5 stops in the frame centre. At the periphery, it compensates up to 6.5 stops. The system uses a gyro sensor and processing algorithm for shake control.

Design & Accessibility

The camera ships in plastic-free, recyclable packaging made from an Original Blended Material. Accessibility features include a screen reader, a menu magnifier, and a customisable Mode Dial Control Set.

Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II Lens

It's a standard zoom lens for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras. This lens covers a 28-70mm range, spanning wide-angle to short-telephoto. Built-in Optical SteadyShot reduces blur from camera shake. The lens works with in-body stabilisation and Active Mode for movie shooting. It also supports Breathing Compensation, reducing angle-of-view shifts during focus pulls.

Focus Performance

An internal focus mechanism uses a linear motor. It supports AF-C during continuous shooting, with AF/AE tracking at up to 120 fps. The lens also supports AF tracking while zooming.

Lens Construction

The lens uses one ED element and three aspherical elements to suppress aberration. A seven-blade circular aperture shapes bokeh. Maximum aperture ranges from f/3.5 to f/5.6; minimum aperture ranges from f/22 to f/36.

The lens has a compact, lightweight design, weighing around 293g, with a dust- and moisture-resistant construction. Filter diameter is 55mm. Minimum focus distance ranges from 0.3 to 0.45m, with a maximum magnification ratio of 0.19x.
