This Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens features a popular wide-angle focal length and an impressively fast aperture. Renowned for its professional-level quality, it is well-suited for landscape, architecture, street scenes and astrophotography. Its advanced optical and mechanical design ensures exceptional edge-to-edge sharpness and overall performance.
Designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, it incorporates two FLD elements and one SLD element to correct chromatic aberrations throughout the focusing range. This guarantees high image sharpness, clarity and contrast. Four aspherical elements further enhance the lens’s construction, eliminating distortion and significantly suppressing sagittal coma flare. These features make it an ideal choice for astrophotography and nightscapes.
As part of Sigma’s Global Vision series, it is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance, making it ideal for creative and artistic applications. The prime 24mm focal length offers a versatile wide-angle perspective when used on full-frame sensors, perfect for landscape, nature and architectural photography. When paired with an APS-C-format sensor, the lens provides a 36mm equivalent focal length.
The fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is well-suited for low-light conditions and offers greater control over focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques. It offers a standard 72mm filter thread, ideal for ND filters and polarisers.
A rear filter holder accommodates sheet-type filter material, often used by astrophotographers for specific effects. Two FLD (Fluid Lens Elements) and one SLD (Solid Lens Element) have been incorporated into the lens design to correct chromatic aberrations throughout the entire focusing range. This ensures high image sharpness, clarity and contrast.
A Super Multilayer Coating has been applied to lens elements to minimise lens flare and ghosting. This contributes to producing contrast-rich and colour-neutral imagery even in backlit conditions. The STM (stepping motor) provides fast and near-silent autofocus. It controls the motor’s movement and optimises the screw pitch to match the optical characteristics.
The Manual Focus Lock (MFL) switch disables the focus ring ensuring that focus remains constant. The aperture ring click switch, aperture lock switch and hood with lock button provide quick and efficient handling. A rounded eleven-blade diaphragm produces an attractive out-of-focus quality when shooting at large apertures.
The lens is also equipped with a Nano Porous Coating that provides water and dust resistance and is incorporated into its weather-resistant design. A high-precision, durable brass bayonet mount is included.
