Enduring and excellent powerhouse

I bought the Nikon Z6ii last year November 2024
After almost a year, the camera is still going strong after more than 269k photos.
I upgraded from a D5300 after capturing Red Sprites October last year.
Since then it has taken hundreds of timelapses and created more than 6TB of photos and videos.
It has endured extreme temperatures during winter and summer; rain; downpours; sand and mud.

The image quality is excellent with portraits, people, animals, macro.
I have captured amazing photos of the Milky Way alongside galaxies at Bortle 2 and the intricate details of the human eye.
I have captured thousands of short exposure(5-6sec), high ISO photos.
The autofocus performs well even in low light conditions.
Performed extremely well with sport, horses, wildlife.

Paired with the FTZ2 adapter, I use all my old lenses.
The autofocus works with my old 1997 Tamron macro and Sigma 150-500DG OS HSM.
The noise is acceptable even shooting at very high ISO.
Has a really long buffer when shooting raw in burst mode.
The 4K video quality is extremely good.
With the right settings, one battery can last more than 4 hours during timelapses if you don't keep it powered through a power bank.

The shutter count should be above 300k before the end of 2025 and I have full confidence that it'll achieve that without any problems.
I was sceptical about moving to mirrorless at first but it was definitely the right decision.
The EVF was the biggest and happiest surprise when balancing the exposure meter.

The only improvements I wish the Z6ii had, but learned to live with is
- An unlimited recording limit with video.
- Fully articulated screen.
-lower operating temperature than -1C
(The Nikon Z6 iii fixes these three issues so definitely worth the upgrade)
-closed curtain in front of the sensor when changing lenses(keep a sensor swipe nearby and that problem is solved if there's any dust)

Keep your old lenses

I love love love this camera. I would Give it more than 5. I had still lenses from my Nikon D7200. I bought the adapter with the camera. It works 100%.

Great Camera

This camera has very good image quality and colour retention for stills a great improvement on the D750. The Autofocus works well although you need to go through a bit of a learning curve. My only gripe is the EVF lag which makes taking moving objects like motor racing a bit of a guessing game for everything else this is a great camera.
