Each element on the Tamron 150-500mm Di Lens features a BBAR-G2 coating to reduce flare and ghosting for high contrast and colour accuracy. The minimum object distance of 60 cm at 150mm end of the zoom range provides dynamic close-up imaging and adds to the lens' remarkable overall usability. When used on APS-C cameras it will provide an equivalent focal length range of 225-750mm.
The VC image stabilisation facilitates photographing handheld at the 500mm ultra-telephoto position, and the Arca-type-compatible rotating tripod mount has integrated strap attachment loops for safety and support when photographing in the field. To support handheld photography in the ultra-telephoto range, the new zoom is equipped with VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive), a linear motor focus mechanism that delivers excellent quietness and agile performance, and Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism for high-level image stabilisation. At the 150mm end, the lens offers a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.6m for powerful and dramatic close-ups.

The lens zooms from 150mm to 500mm by rotating the zoom ring through an arc of just 75° — less than one-quarter of a turn.
