Photographing a game from the side of a court is a common use for this kind of lens. The Sigma 50-120mm f/2.8 DC OS Contemporary Lens for Sony E is an APS-C telephoto zoom with an optical stabiliser. It is made for hobbyist photographers who shoot events and indoor sports.
The 50-120mm range covers close framing and distant subjects without a lens change. At events, you can stay in one spot and follow the action. In indoor sports halls, the f/2.8 aperture helps in lower light, and the zoom lets you reframe as play moves across the floor. The optical stabiliser reduces camera shake when you shoot handheld. The optical design minimises focus breathing, so the image stays consistent as you refocus. It supports comfortable shooting of both stills and video footage. At 390g, it is light enough to carry through a long day at a busy venue.
