Nikon Z 85mm f/1.2 S Lens

Classic view. Exotic aperture.

Among photo and video pros shooting portraiture, weddings, maternity, high fashion and boudoir, the NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S is bound to become a legend. Breathtaking realism with dreamlike depth. Backgrounds that melt away into a soft bokeh. Beautifully flattering compression. Autofocus you can trust with once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Cherished focal length.

With its flattering slimming effect, intimate yet comfortable working distance and light telephoto compression, an 85mm prime is ideal for capturing authentic human expression.

Striking background separation.

The combination of the paper-thin f/1.2 plane of focus, the flattering perspective compression of 85mm and the intense sharpness of this lens create a three-dimensional effect that immediately commands attention.

Bokeh beyond belief.

The fast f/1.2 aperture is shaped by 11 rounded blades, more than most lenses, for smoother, rounder, more natural blur. At f/2, point light sources transform into dreamlike orbs and out of focus areas dissolve into a painterly haze.

Low-light freedom.

Nikon’s larger Z mount increases the light gathering performance of the f/1.2 aperture, flooding the image sensor with light and allowing you to shoot in near darkness.

Embrace backlighting.

Natural backlighting like sunsets can create some of the most glamorous. dramatic shots—especially at weddings. Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat (N) offers extraordinary tolerance to backlighting, glare and flare, while Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) and Aspherical Lens Elements (AS) prevent color fringing and aberration.

Z mount: Bigger. Better.

With the largest diameter of any mirrorless system, Z mount unlocks new capabilities for lenses—larger rear elements that deliver more light to the sensor, more beautiful bokeh, suppressed focus breathing and faster camera-to-lens communication.

Dramatic focus transitions

Enable linear focusing for controlled, accurate manual focus pulling, or let the camera do the work with near-silent Eye-Detect AF. Focus breathing is highly suppressed, so you won’t notice an apparent change to field of view when moving focus from one subject to another.

Autofocus as decisive as the moment.

There’s no second chance for once-in-a-lifetime moments. Nikon’s Multi-Focus System uses dual STM stepping motors moving in sync for flawless precision, even when shooting wide open at f/1.2 where mere millimeters matter.

Textures you can almost feel.

With such outstanding resolution, the NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S captures the fine textures of skin, hair and fabric with lifelike precision.
