Fill the Frame with Magic

Nikon's NIKKOR Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena lens is a revolutionary telephoto prime, packed with cutting-edge features. Designed for the mirrorless Z System, it introduces unparalleled image quality to the popular 135mm focal length. Harnessing the Z-series' larger mount diameter, this lens delivers remarkable clarity from edge to edge. Its unique ability to produce ethereal circular bokeh across the entire frame creates a painterly effect, making it ideal for capturing stunning portraits, still life compositions, and cinematic videos. With its innovative technology and superior optics, the Plena lens redefines creative possibilities for photographers and filmmakers alike.

Innovative, Z-Series Optical Design

Crafted with meticulous precision downstream of the Z-mount's large diameter, the NIKKOR Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena lens stands as a testament to Nikon's optical innovation. It pioneers the Z-series' light gathering potential, illuminating the extreme edges of the frame with unparalleled consistency, all thanks to its larger rear element. This lens is a masterclass in clarity, reducing vignetting and maximising brightness through a clear path of light, resulting in the Plena's signature round bokeh. Beyond its bokeh magic, this lens excels in image clarity. Its arsenal includes a short-wavelength refractive front element, an aspherical element, and four extra-low dispersion elements, ensuring minimal color bleeding, fringing, and flare. In challenging lighting, ARNEO and Nano Crystal Coats battle chromatic aberrations, delivering exceptional contrast and clarity. Furthermore, its prowess in transitioning focus zones, coupled with remarkable resolving power, produces awe-inspiring subject separation and textural detail even at the widest aperture. This lens is not just a tool; it's an optical marvel, capturing the world with unprecedented brilliance.

Fast, Accurate Autofocus

Nikon’s exclusive Multi-Focus System integrates two synchronised AF drive units, ensuring lightning-fast and precise focus across the entire zoom range. Powered by dual STM stepping motors, this system delivers exceptionally quiet and smooth autofocus performance, making it ideal for both still photography and video applications. Moreover, the lens features a customisable linear focus ring, enabling effortless manual focus with seamless rotation in both directions, enhancing the lens's versatility and user experience.

Optimised for Cinematic Video

Tailored for cinematographers, the Plena lens is meticulously crafted, starting with its widely favoured focal length that naturally creates a distinct separation between the subject and the background. Beyond its breathtaking visuals, the Plena boasts seamless aperture transitions and effortless shifts between focus positions, ensuring a cinematic touch to every frame. When paired with Nikon's advanced Multi System Focus autofocus, on-lens manual focus choices, and the comprehensive range of video capture options available within the Z System, the Plena transforms ordinary footage into cinematic masterpieces, enhancing the depth and storytelling potential of every shot.

Body, Handling, and Ergonomics

The Plena lens goes beyond its exceptional imagery, boasting a meticulous design that extends to its lightweight, all-metal construction, allowing for easy portability and compatibility with 82mm filters. Its versatility is enhanced by a clickless control ring, enabling adjustments to aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation, while an easily accessible Fn button adds further customisation. Additionally, the lens is fortified with dust- and water-resistant sealing, empowering the Plena to thrive in challenging environments. This durability transforms it into a powerful tool, uncovering the extraordinary in everyday moments and making it an essential companion for photographers exploring the enchanting beauty of diverse settings.
