You can crop into tighter digital focal lengths and still print your photos a meter wide with clean detail. This discrete layout lets you quietly capture the fast-paced energy of a busy Johannesburg streets or a dusty Karoo landscape without drawing attention. Driven by the Maestro IV processor, the camera handles internal DCI 8K video recording and uses a hybrid autofocus system to lock onto moving subjects instantly.

The macro ring focuses down to 17cm. A 3-inch tilting touchscreen LCD simplifies low-angle framing, while the IP52 weather-sealed magnesium body safely handles a sudden Highveld afternoon storm.

At the core of the Leica Q3 is a full-frame BSI CMOS sensor featuring innovative Triple Resolution Technology. Photographers can choose between 60MP, 36MP, or 18MP output, with images saved as DNG raw files or beautifully processed JPEGs straight from the camera. The 60MP setting delivers exceptional detail and texture reproduction, while the 36MP and 18MP options provide faster performance, extended burst shooting, and reduced file sizes. Regardless of the selected resolution, the Q3 utilises the full sensor area and offers an ISO range of 50–100,000. Paired with the latest Maestro Series processor featuring L2 technology, the camera delivers fast, responsive operation and outstanding image quality.

Summilux 28 mm – An Optical Masterpiece

The Leica Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens is an optical masterpiece, combining exceptional sharpness with a bright maximum aperture. Its integrated macro mode enables close-up photography from as close as 17cm, making it ideal for capturing fine details. Paired with the camera's high-resolution sensor, the lens supports an extended digital zoom range, allowing users to switch between 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 90mm focal lengths. The Leica Q3 also introduces Leica Perspective Control (LPC) and Leica Dynamic Range (LDR), two intelligent features designed to optimise JPEG images in-camera, delivering impressive results straight out of the camera with minimal need for post-processing.

Hybrid Autofocus System

A significant development has also been made to the autofocus system of the Q3. A hybrid autofocus system with phase detection ensures extremely fast, accurate focusing and tracking of objects. In addition to the high-precision contrast autofocus, the DFD system and phase detection autofocus, combined with intelligent subject recognition, supports the capturing of sharp and brilliant images, all displayed crisply and clearly on the new 5.76 MP OLED viewfinder.

Tiltable 3-inch High-Resolution Touchscreen

Tiltable and highly responsive, the Leica Q3's 3-inch high-resolution touchscreen expands creative possibilities for both photography and video. Its premium tilting mechanism enables comfortable shooting from high, low, and unique perspectives, making it easier to compose images from challenging angles. Despite incorporating a movable display, the camera maintains its robust design and IP52-rated protection against dust and light water spray for reliable performance in a variety of conditions.

Seamless and Fast Connectivity

The Leica Q3 continues to impress with its seamless and fast connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The camera is equipped with advanced Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology, which has increased the transfer speed to the Leica FOTOS app by up to 10 times compared to the previous model, taking mobile creative workflow to the next level.

Record Video at 8K Resolution

With a stable connection and high data transfer rates to the Leica FOTOS app, videos can now be loaded from the camera to a smartphone, or special ‘Leica Looks’ can be imported onto the camera for beautiful JPEG images. Various connection modes from ‘Eco’ to ‘Performance’ improve the mobile workflow and energy management of the Leica Q3. The Apple certification “Made for iPhone® and iPad®” accessory and the included Leica FOTOS cable make the Leica Q3 the ideal tool to express the creative vision of users working with it daily. With the ability to record video at 8K resolution and highly efficient codecs such as H.265 and Apple's ProRes, the powerful Leica Q3 now meets the needs of all content creators.

Wireless Charging

The connection of external devices such as gimbals, power banks, and display recorders is secured directly via USB-C and HDMI. Tethered shooting with Capture One or the Adobe Lightroom plug-in is also supported via the USB-C cable connection and further enriches the fields of application for this compact digital camera. Entirely wireless charging is also now possible with the new Leica Charging Pad and separate camera handgrip. This stylish charging pad conveniently recharges the new powerful battery BC-SCL6 of the Q3 and many other Qi-compatible devices.
