How to get started
Register for student discount by visiting us in-store or sending an email to info@outdoorphoto.co.za with the following documents:
- Copy of your South African ID
- Valid 2026 Student Card or Proof of Registration (full-time art, graphic design or photography students)
Apply for discounted gear rentals
Gear rentals are perfect for testing out the gear that you consider buying, or simply having a backup. To register, please also email marike@outdoorphoto.co.za with a:
- Copy of South African ID
- Valid 2026 Student Card / Proof of Registration (full-time art, graphic design or photography students)
- Proof of Residence (utility bill/bank statement in the name of the hirer)
If you’re renting, send a signed Affidavit of Residence, including the utility bill of the homeowner.
New rental applications can take up to two working days to complete before a booking is confirmed. Once completed, we’ll email you a booking confirmation.

Canon Student Discount
This promotion is an initiative of Canon South Africa to promote the study of photography and is applicable only to Canon products purchased within the borders of South Africa through an authorised Canon photo dealer.
To obtain your discount, you are required to be a full-time student studying photography, graphic design, art, videography and digital marketing through an official registered institution in South Africa.
Please take note this promotion is for in-store purchases only.
- The Canon Student Discount promotion (“the Promotion”) is an ongoing promotion.
- Only full-time students studying photography, graphic design, art, videography and digital marketing through an official registered institution in South Africa (“Eligible Students”) qualify to receive a discount.
- Eligible Students will each receive a 10% discount on the invoiced purchase amount in-store.
- Eligible Students must submit a valid copy of his/her valid student card or proof of registration, and a copy of a valid South African ID.
- It is the Eligible Student’s responsibility to submit complete and correct information in order to qualify for the discount.
- Neither the discount nor part thereof can be transferred, refunded or redeemed for cash.
- This promotion runs from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026.
- This is applicable to hardware only, including the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000, PRO-100 and PRO-310 (excluding consumables).
Nikon Student Discount
- Promotion only valid for full-time students studying Photography, Videography, Filmmaking, Graphic Design or Art through an official registered institution in SA
- Valid from 1 January – 31 December 2026 Proof of Student Card or Registration with ID and physical address required
- All claims to be filled in on Student Support Voucher
- The 10% Discount is only awarded for ONE purchase and not multiple purchases or redeemed at a later time
- The 10% discount is valid off all Nikon special promotions
The Nikon Student Support promotion (”the Promotion”) shall endure and be valid from 1 January until 31 December 2026 (”duration/while the Promotion endures”).
- Only full-time students studying photography, videography, filmmaking, graphic
design and art through an official registered institution in South Africa
(”Eligible Students”) qualify to be awarded with the Student Support Discount. - Eligible Students will each be awarded with a Student Support Discount to
the value of 10%, but only if he/she submits a copy of his/her valid student
card or proof of registration and valid South African ID upon purchase. - The 10% Student Support Discount will be awarded only for one purchase transaction
and not for multiple purchases or redeemed at a later time. - Neither the Student Support Discount nor any part thereof may be transferred or refunded
for cash.
Sony Student Discount
- Promotion only valid for full-time students studying Photography, Videography, Filmmaking, Graphic Design or Art through an official registered institution in SA
- Valid from 1 January – 31 December 2026
- Proof of Student Card or Registration with ID and physical address required
- The 10% Discount is only awarded for ONE purchase and not multiple purchases or redeemed later
- This discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other campaign or promotion
Fujifilm Student Discount
FUJIFILM offers all registered full-time or part-time art, graphic design,
photography and videography students 10% discount on any FUJIFILM-X
Series gear to assist you in mastering your FUTURE.
- Full-time or part-time students studying photography, videography, graphic design or art
through an official registered tertiary institution in South Africa ("Eligible Students") qualify
to be awarded with the Student Support Discount. - Valid from 1 January – 31 December 2026
- Eligible Students will each be awarded with a Student Support Discount to the value of 10%
discount. Supporting documents required to claim the discount are a copy of the student's
valid student card or proof of registration as well as a copy of Passport or ID. - The 10% Student Support Discount nor any part thereof may be transferred, refunded or
redeemed for cash. - This voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other FUJIFILM campaign, promotion
or rent to own scheme.
Lexar Student Discount
- Promotion only valid for full-time students studying Photography, Videography, Filmmaking, Graphic Design or Art through an official registered institution in
SA - Valid from 1 January – 31 December 2026
- Proof of Student Card or Registration with ID and physical address required
- The 10% Discount is only awarded for Two purchases and not multiple purchases or redeemed later
- The 10% discount is valid off all Lexar special promotions
Atomos Monitors Student Discount
- Promotion only valid for full-time students enrolled for a minimum of 6 months at an official registered institution in SA
- This promotion is open to all students
- Valid from 1 January – 31 December 2026
- Proof of Student Card or Registration with ID and physical address required
- The 10% Discount is only awarded for ONE purchase and not multiple purchases or redeemed later
- This discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other campaign or promotion
Terms & Conditions
- The student discount promotion is an ongoing promotion valid until 24 December 2026, unless stated otherwise in the T&Cs.
- The promotion is only available while stock lasts.
- Student discounts don’t run on items on special/sale. Students can choose which one they prefer to use.
- Only full-time students studying photography, graphic design or art through an accredited institution in South Africa during 2026 (“Eligible Students”) qualify for the discount.
- Eligible students will each receive a 10% discount per purchase, excluding items already on special or with a cashback promotion.
- Not included in student discount: software; workshops; Binoculars; Leica; Instax; Panasonic; Sandisk; Godox and Wacom. To avoid disappointment, consult with Outdoorphoto before making a purchase using this promotion to ensure that the gear qualifies for the discount.
- Eligible students must submit a valid copy of his/her valid 2026 student card or proof of registration, and a copy of a valid South African ID.
- It is the student’s responsibility to submit complete and correct information in order to qualify for the discount.
- Neither the discount nor part thereof can be transferred, refunded or redeemed for cash.
- We reserve the right to confirm the student’s details before finalising the purchase.
- Any purchases made by a student on behalf of someone who does not qualify for the student discount will be declined.
- Eligible for 5% discount on used gear.
