Traveller Series 1 Carbon Fibre Tripod
The Gitzo GIGT1545T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fibre Tripod is a compact support system with legs that fold around the centre column and optional head. It extends to 153 cm high and can hold up to 10 kg worth of gear.
The tripod employs Carbon eXact tubing for added strength and stiffness compared to the Carbon 6X tubes. Traveller G-lock is a pared-down version of Gitzo's G-lock, specifically designed for the Traveler tripods to reduce overall size. These legs feature space-saving feet that fit the Traveler series' compact design. A shoulder strap is included for easy carrying.
Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head
The Gitzo GH1382TQD Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head is an Arca-type compatible head that is an ideal match for Traveler Series 0 and 1 tripods. It holds up to 11 kg and weighs 0.4 kg. The head has a separate lock for the 360° panning and another to control the movement of the ball. A tungsten disulfide coating on the ball helps keep the ball movement smooth and minimizes stick-slip. A screw-knob lock tightens down on the included quick-release plate and a bubble level helps you maintain straight horizons in your images.

5* Quality ...and 5* price :-\
I bought mine a couple of years ago and it was expensive then.
I read a very thorough and scientific review of this model and it was the most rigid and had the best dampening (often overlooked) of all the models tested [in that review].
Given the tiny size it folds up to it really is very stable.
When I bought the Gitzo, I had a full-size Manfrotto, also an excellent tripod; If I hadn't this would be my only tripod.
I think you generally get what you pay for with tripods.
If you can afford this, you will not regret buying it. If you can't, there are cheaper alternatives that are almost as good.
If we could do half-stars I would deduct a half as it does not come with a proper bag of any kind. At this price point, I would expect a decent bag to store and carry it in.
Oh yes, and it's ...beautiful. Can a tripod be 'beautiful' - Yep, this Gitzo is.
