The Sidemount Wimberley Head is a lighter, more compact alternative to the full Wimberley Head. Its head shares the main casting and pan and tilt mechanisms with the Wimberley Head, but a side-mounted Arca-Swiss-style quick release clamp replaces the other model's swingarm & adjustable platform. You will be able to set the centre of gravity of the camera/lens over the pan base, for smooth, stable changes to your lens positioning.

The new Sidemount Wimberley Head is a lighter, more compact alternative to the full Wimberley Head and is available from Outdoorphoto.The main casting and pan and tilt mechanisms are identical to the Wimberley Head; however, the swing arm and adjustable platform are replaced by a sidemounted quick-release clamp. The same dual screw mounting configuration is used to attach the sidemounted quick-release as is used to attach the swing arm of the full Wimberley Head. Thus, it is simple to convert the Sidemount to the full Wimberley Head or vice versa.
Ideally suited for lenses similar in size to a 300mm f/2.8 or 500mm f/4. Larger lenses may require a spacer or a replacement foot for the lens collar
