Reduced chromatic aberration to help deliver high resolution images
The optical construction of 21 elements in 14 groups, which includes five ED lenses and a Super ED lens, delivers results comparable to a fluorite lens, and by reducing axial chromatic aberration it produces images packed with detail. The maximum magnification is 0.19x, enabling users to shoot telephotoTELEPHOTOA lens with long focal length capable of making distant objects appear nearer thus larger. Essentially, it isolates and magnifies the subject so that it appears as a full image when shooting from a distance. Telephoto lenses are ideal for photographing subjects that are further away, such as wildlife and sports photography.macroMACROProducing photographs that render extreme close-ups of extremely small subjects like insects, hence its popularity among nature photographers. It requires using a macro lens with a large reproduction (magnification) ratio of at least 1:1, which renders a subject larger than life size. Macro lenses are capable of focussing at extremely short distances (some as little as a few centimetres), allowing the photographer to get very close to the subject. images.
Class-leading 5.0-stop image stabilisation
A 5.0-stop image stabilisation system — the most powerful in any super telephoto zoom lensZOOM LENSAllows a camera to, unlike a fixed-focal length or prime lens, change smoothly from a long shot to a close-up or vice versa by varying the focal length. A true zoom lens, also called a parfocal lens, is one that maintains focus when its focal length changes. Due to more moving parts, zoom lenses often produce images of slightly lesser quality than their prime lens counterparts. However due to the inherent flexibility of being able to vary the focal length, they are extremely popular for photography where composition needs to be adapted quickly - such as at weddings, for example. — produces shake-free results even at the maximum telephoto setting of 400mm (609mm in 35mm-format equivalent). Also, if panning is detected, the lens automatically switches camera shake correction to the vertical plane only. This frees you from cumbersome switches and settings when the moment happens without warning.
Fast, quiet AF thanks to twin linear motors
Twin linear motors are used to deliver fast focusing on moving subjects. The motors are also quiet, so the lens is ideal for shooting live music performances and theatre productions. Even faster AF shooting is possible with the focus limiter function, which limits the close focusing point to 5m.
Compact and lightweight design
Thanks to a weight of less than 1.4kg, the strain of shooting handheld has been substantially reduced. When mounted to an X-T1 body, the combined weight is below 2kg, so it's easier to keep moving while shooting. What’s more, the weight distribution of the lens when attached to a body makes it feel lighter than it really is.
Water, dust and extreme weather resistance
The lens features 13 water and dust resistant seals at 12 points, allowing you to shoot with confidence in tough outdoor environments.
The fluorine coating applied to the front lens element is water repellent so it’s less susceptible to smudges and can easily be cleaned. The Fujifilm 100-400mm zoom lens is designed for great operation even at temperatures down to -10°C.
Lens hood with a polarising filter window and lock mechanism
The lens hood features a sliding window so a polarising filter can still be accessed even when the hood is in place.
The hood also features a locking mechanism to keep securely attached to the lens.
Compatible with the 1.4x Teleconverter
The lens offers compatibility with the Fujifilm XF 1.4X TC WR teleconverter. When attached, it becomes a 140-560mm f/6.3-8 (or 213-853mm in 35mm format equivalent). Phase detection AF shooting remains possible, even at f/8.
