Inside its compact body, the RX100 VII is packed with everything it takes to deliver gorgeous images. The 24-200mm zoom lensZOOM LENSAllows a camera to, unlike a fixed-focal length or prime lens, change smoothly from a long shot to a close-up or vice versa by varying the focal length. A true zoom lens, also called a parfocal lens, is one that maintains focus when its focal length changes. Due to more moving parts, zoom lenses often produce images of slightly lesser quality than their prime lens counterparts. However due to the inherent flexibility of being able to vary the focal length, they are extremely popular for photography where composition needs to be adapted quickly - such as at weddings, for example. is complemented by 0.02-sec.[2[ super-fast AF, new Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF, plus enhanced image stabilisation and an external microphone jack for high-quality movie shooting.

It allows you to capture decisive moments that might otherwise be very difficult, and it can be used with the self-timer. Both JPEG and RAW image formats are supported.
The RX100 VII features a category-leading6 total of 357 focal-plane phase-detection AF points, covering a total of 68% of the frame. These are complemented by 425 contrastCONTRASTThe difference between areas of different brightness levels in a photograph: A high-contrast image has a greater difference between light and dark areas, whereas a low-contrast image has a narrow range of tones. Contrast is used to direct a viewer’s attention to a photographer’s subject either with colour contrast (bold versus duller colours) or tonal contrast (bright versus darker tones). -detection AF points, and AF acquisition is achieved in just 0.02 seconds,2 the world's fastest speed.[6 ]
Real-time Tracking uses subject-recognition algorithms (AI) that draw on colour, pattern (brightness), subject distance (depth) and face/eye information to track your subjects wherever they move. Maintaining a constant, steady focus on a moving subject helps you capture every important moment of action as it happens, whether you're taking stills or movies.
High resolution and exceptional low-light shooting: The large 1.0-type image sensor has a resolution of 20.1 megapixelPIXELThe shortening of 'picture element', a basic unit of programmable colour forming the dots that make up an image. Pixel size depends on a camera’s resolution, which is measured in megapixels (MP), meaning millions of pixels. The more pixels on a sensor, the smaller they have to be to fit. An image's number (or density) of pixels correlate to the amount of information and image holds. Cameras with more pixels on the sensor have a higher pixel density and thus more resolving power, able to capture smaller details with much more clarity and accuracy. Higher resolution images can be cropped more agressively and also produce better quality large prints.s with back-illuminated technology and an improved standard ISO ISO Exposure is controlled by three elements: Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. The ISO speed determines how sensitive a camera's sensor is to incoming light. A higher ISO speed absorbs more light, resulting in a brighter exposure, however, a higher ISO also results in more digital noise in low-light conditions. Cameras with larger sensors (like full-frame cameras) typically have higher ISO speed capability and produce less digital noise at high ISO settings. Digital cameras include a control for adjusting ISO speed, some of which can be set to adjust automatically in combination with certain other exposure settings. ISO is indicated in numbers usually starting at 100 and going upward (200, 400, 800, 1600 etc.) doubling in sensitivity each time. Most cameras also indicate 3rd stop intervals (100, 125, 180, 200 etc.)range of 100-12800. High levels of perceived image resolutionIMAGE RESOLUTIONRefers to the information a digital image holds, measured in megapixels (MP). A digital camera with greater MP is more desirable as it enables you to collect more information necessary for delivering high-quality images fit for resizing or down-sampling. Note that an image’s MP may be misleading as it only tells you how many pixels it holds and not its actual dimensions (width and height). The pixels may be concentrated in a smaller area (high pixel density and thus higher resolution), resulting in a high-quality image, or spread out over a larger area, resulting in a low-quality pixelated image. The number of pixels in an image can be calculated by multiplying the horizontal and vertical pixel dimensions - e.g. a 3000 x 2000 pixel image contains 6 megapixels (6 million pixels). and low noiseNOISEThe appearance of random pixels scattered over a photo, similar to the grain effect seen in film photography, which degrades photo quality almost as if it is stained. It occurs when taking photos in low-light conditions, with very slow shutter speeds on high sensitivity (ISO) settings. It is caused by amplification done by the sensor when high ISO settings are used. You can counteract digital noise by lowering the sensitivity (ISO) setting of your camera - the lower the ISO setting, the lower the noise in the image. Typically cameras with larger sensors (like full-frame cameras) will inherently produce less noise due to larger pixels on the sensor. contribute to superb image quality with realistic-looking textures.

Optical image stabilisation for steadier still shots: Capture high-quality images with compensation for hand-held camera shake, even in dim lighting and at telephoto range. The image-stabilisation algorithm delivers a level of stabilisation equivalent to a 4.0-stop faster shutter speedSHUTTER SPEEDAperture, shutter speed and ISO form what is known as the exposure triangle in photography. Shutter speed is the length of time that a single frame is exposed for, more specifically how fast the shutter opens and closes to permit light entering the lens, to reach the sensor. A slow shutter speed means a longer exposure time useful for motion blur like the silky look of flowing water, whereas a fast shutter speed means a shorter exposure time useful for freezing the appearance of motion in images like a hummingbird in flight. It is measured in seconds starting at 1 second and halving our doubling in time.
For example: 1/2s, 1/4s and 1/8s are all fractions of a second with 1/2s being the longest exposure time, 1/4s half of that and 1/8s another half etc. at 200mm.
Anti-distortion electronic shutter with silent shooting: The RX100 VII achieves shutter speeds of up to 1/32000 sec., while the sensor's fast readout helps suppress the rolling-shutter effect that can occur when photographing quickly moving subjects. Silent shooting is also possible.
Soft Skin Effect and Creative Style: The Soft Skin Effect reduces facial wrinkles and skin dullness, for better portraits. Creative Style and Picture Effect options let you make fine adjustments to capture distinctive images.
The camera supports internal 4K (QFHD:3840×2160) movie recording  with full pixel readout and no pixel binning. Smooth, stable AF is the result of enhanced AF algorithms, and Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF (human) are also now available for movies. With HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) capability you can enjoy HDR images simply by connecting the camera to an HDR (HLG) compatible Sony TV via a USB cable.
