Fits in your pocket, and in your life

Reflecting the camera's robust construction and go-anywhere functionality, it sports a simple and practical ribbed design, with clean lines and no unnecessary protrusions. The extra super duralumin body is dependably rigid but light in weight.

Engineered for serious image quality

  • Sharp, high-resolution still photos and movies: Packed into the RX0 II's tiny body is a wealth of cutting-edge imaging technology, designed to deliver beautiful images in whatever shooting situation you may encounter. Clear Image Zoom enables up to 2x zoom with minimal loss of quality.
  • Stunning detail and low noiseNOISEThe appearance of random pixels scattered over a photo, similar to the grain effect seen in film photography, which degrades photo quality almost as if it is stained. It occurs when taking photos in low-light conditions, with very slow shutter speeds on high sensitivity (ISO) settings. It is caused by amplification done by the sensor when high ISO settings are used. You can counteract digital noise by lowering the sensitivity (ISO) setting of your camera - the lower the ISO setting, the lower the noise in the image. Typically cameras with larger sensors (like full-frame cameras) will inherently produce less noise due to larger pixels on the sensor.: The 1.0-type Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor works in tandem with the advanced BIONZ X™ image-processing engine to provide a wide dynamic range, reduced noise, natural-looking details and rich tonal gradations.
  • ZEISS® Tessar T* lens: The wide-angle ZEISS® Tessar T* 24-mm f/4 lens delivers beautiful images in just about any shooting situation, with enhanced contrastCONTRASTThe difference between areas of different brightness levels in a photograph: A high-contrast image has a greater difference between light and dark areas, whereas a low-contrast image has a narrow range of tones. Contrast is used to direct a viewer’s attention to a photographer’s subject either with colour contrast (bold versus duller colours) or tonal contrast (bright versus darker tones). and sharpness, and reduced distortion.
  • Soft Skin Effect: For better-looking portrait shots and selfies, the camera's Soft Skin mode reduces small facial wrinkles and skin dullness while preserving the clarity of the subject's eyes and mouth.
  • Eye AF: When you're taking portrait shots and selfies, the RX0 II's Eye AF function is conveniently set up to automatically focus on the subject's eyes.

Beautiful, high-resolution movies

  • Internal 4K movie recording with full pixelPIXELThe shortening of 'picture element', a basic unit of programmable colour forming the dots that make up an image. Pixel size depends on a camera’s resolution, which is measured in megapixels (MP), meaning millions of pixels. The more pixels on a sensor, the smaller they have to be to fit. An image's number (or density) of pixels correlate to the amount of information and image holds. Cameras with more pixels on the sensor have a higher pixel density and thus more resolving power, able to capture smaller details with much more clarity and accuracy. Higher resolution images can be cropped more agressively and also produce better quality large prints. readout: The RX0 II lets you record 4K movies with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, using 1.7x oversampling to help produce stunningly clear images and action scenes. Despite the camera's compact size, it supports internal 4K 30p recording (QFHD: 3840 x 2160), making it ideal for shooting high-image-quality movies when you're travelling or when you're capturing scenes from daily life.
  • Make great movies even better: New electronic image stabilisation helps you capture great-looking movies, while the Movie Edit add-on for your smartphone achieves smooth images, similar to shooting with a gimbal. The Movie Edit add-on can also keep your subject in-frame automatically, even when you crop movies for smartphone portrait screens and social-media sharing.

Capture life from any angle

Built tough, for worry-free shooting: Super-compact and lightweight, the RX0 II is built to be tough and resilient. Throw it in your bag or carry it from a strap without worries, and use it in settings where you could never shoot before.

  • Ultra-compact and ready for adventure: The RX0 II is a serious camera in a tiny package. It's easy to carry anywhere you go, and it delivers high-quality images wherever you shoot. Its simple design and lack of protrusions also make it easier to set up, pack and store.
  • Waterproof/dustproof down to 10m: Whether you're snorkelling in freshwater or seawater, shooting poolside or out in a thunderstorm, the RX0 II will expand your shooting potential. There's no need to safeguard against rainwater or splashed drinks, and you can also shoot comfortably in desert settings with sand and dust. All without requiring a special waterproof case or additional accessories.
  • Shockproof from a height of 2m: Thanks to the shockproof design, you won't need to worry about the occasional accident — the RX0 II's rugged body is built to withstand the impact of a drop from a height of 2m.
  • Crushproof up to 200 kgf/2000 N: There's no need for super-delicate treatment — stow the camera comfortably in a carrying bag or a pocket and bring it wherever you go without concern.

Expand your creative options

  • Tiltable LCD monitor perfect for selfies: The camera's LCD monitor tilts upward around 180 °, making it easy to frame selfie shots and vlogging sessions. With its waterproof and dustproof design, you can even use it for underwater shots. The monitor also tilts downward, by around 90 °, to help when you're shooting from a high angle.
  • Extended control with the optional shooting grip: The VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip has integrated controls to let you trip the shutter release and operate the record button and the camera's zoom from the grip itself. The shooting grip can also be converted for use as a tabletop tripod.
  • External microphone for high-quality sound: In spite of its ultra-compact size, the RX0 II comes equipped with a microphone jack, so you can attach an external mic for better quality sound in your vlogs and movies.

Packed with imaging power

  • Super slow-motion movies from 960fps/1000fps shooting: Shooting at frame rates of up to 960fps/1000fps captures split-second action and allows you to produce super-slow-motion movie scenes. You can even capture in full HD resolution at up to 120fps/100fps.
  • Interval recording for time-lapse movies: The camera's new interval recording feature enables continuous shooting with a set interval between 1 and 60 seconds. These still images can then be edited into a time-lapse movie on a PC.
  • Continuous shooting at up to 16fps with reduced blackout: The RX0 II's continuous shooting capabilities allow you to better capture decisive moments of action and fleeting facial expressions. Up to 129 JPEG (Standard) images can be shot in one burst.
  • Anti-Distortion shutter at up to 1/32,000 sec.: The Anti-Distortion shutter is capable of shutter speedSHUTTER SPEEDAperture, shutter speed and ISO form what is known as the exposure triangle in photography. Shutter speed is the length of time that a single frame is exposed for, more specifically how fast the shutter opens and closes to permit light entering the lens, to reach the sensor. A slow shutter speed means a longer exposure time useful for motion blur like the silky look of flowing water, whereas a fast shutter speed means a shorter exposure time useful for freezing the appearance of motion in images like a hummingbird in flight. It is measured in seconds starting at 1 second and halving our doubling in time. For example: 1/2s, 1/4s and 1/8s are all fractions of a second with 1/2s being the longest exposure time, 1/4s half of that and 1/8s another half etc.s of up to 1/32,000 sec., and it's designed to minimise the rolling shutter phenomenon, which can distort images of fast-moving objects.
  • Picture Profiles to meet pro-level demand: With the Picture Profiles feature and S-Log, you can set the overall tone of movie productions from the camera body, adjusting parameters that affect the final look of your movies.

Wireless multi-camera control

The perfect setup for casual use with a smartphone

Sony's Imaging Edge Mobile app lets you control multiple cameras from a smartphone or other mobile device. Wireless connectivity gives you greater flexibility in positioning your cameras, which are sturdy and small enough to go nearly anywhere.
