Remembering Elephants by Wildlife Photographers United

Remembering Elephants was the first book in the series created after Remembering Wildlife founder, British wildlife photographer Margot Raggett, saw a poached elephant in Northern Kenya.

Margot approached fellow wildlife photographers to ask if they’d be interested in contributing to a fundraising book. The rest is history. Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign the books were pre-funded and their sale eventually went on to raise more than R2,9 million, all of which went to projects protecting elephants in Africa via The Born Free Foundation.

The aim of the creators of the Remembering Wildlife charity series is to make the most beautiful photographic book ever seen on a species and to use that to raise awareness of the plight facing that animal and also funds to protect it.

Features images generously donated by many of the world's top wildlife photographers. All profits from the sale of this book will be donated to projects working to protect elephants in Africa "The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?" - Sir David Attenborough. With an emphatic no to Sir David's question, the vision for this book has always been simple. Remembering Elephants is that vision come true with a total of 65 photographers coming together for this unprecedented project and their stunning images collectively showing the life enjoyed by wild African elephants in the early part of the 21st century. About the Founder

A former PR in London, when Margot Raggett saw a poached elephant in late 2014, she was so moved by that incident, that she founded the Remembering Wildlife project. This was a 'live-aid' moment for wildlife photographers, coming together for a fund-raising book entitled Remembering Elephants. Such was the success of this book that it was quickly followed up by Remembering Rhinos, Remembering Great Apes and Remembering Lions with Remembering Cheetahs due for publication in 2020. So far, more than 150 photographers have contributed to the series under the banner of 'Wildlife Photographers United', selling more than 16,000 copies and raising more than USD $800,000 for conservation projects in Africa and Asia.
