The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM II is the ultimate workhorse. It spans a popular and versatile range of focal lengths from wide-angle to portrait length making it perfect for everyday use.
The mechanical structure of the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens has been improved to offer enhanced zoom durability and greater shake and shock resistance within the lens barrel. In addition to its enhanced optical performance, the size of the lens has been reduced by 10mm compared to the previous model, for improved handling.
The constant f/2.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and affords greater control over depth of field. A sophisticated optical design includes one Super UD element and two UD elements, which reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to realise a high degree of colour accuracy and clarity. Three aspherical elements are also featured and minimise distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness. Also, a Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to control flare and ghosting for high contrast and neutral colour fidelity.

Balancing the refined optics, this 24-70mm f/2.8 also sports a ring-type USM and internal focusing mechanism to enable quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance, as well as full-time manual focus override. Finally, this lens is weather-sealed and has a protective fluorine coating on the exposed elements for use in trying environmental conditions.

A Zoom Lock lever also enables users to lock the zoom position at the extreme wide end to prevent damage to the lens in transit, while a water and dust proof construction enables users to continue shooting in harsh conditions. The fluoride coatings on the front and rear lens also reduce fingerprints and smearing.

The 24-70mm of MK2 is one of my go-to lenses for a studio or wedding session. It is not heavy as such easy to carry around all day, its ability to zoom comes in handy during wedding shoot no need to move too close up to your subject. I would highly recommend this to a beginner or a professional!

Save up to get mine after initially using a third party lens that was good but seemed to struggle with focus on my 7Dmkii body. Never had a chance to regret the purchase ever since!

The mark2 24-70 is an enormous step up from its predecessor. Corner to corner sharpness is incredible, and the detail in images are out of this world. An image stabilizer would have been awesome though- but maybe not (image sharpness would have suffered)
