Step up to the professional grade Panasonic Lumix GH5s C4K mirrorless camera that offers over 29 Lumix and Leica compact lens options built on the next-generation (ILC) interchangeable lens camera standard [Micro Four Thirds] pioneered by Panasonic. Its “mirrorless” design enables the high performance, durability, mobility, and low light gathering needed for professional Cinematic and Anamorphic 4K video production. The Lumix GH5s includes cutting-edge C4K: 60p50p 4:2:0 8-bit, 30p25p24p 4:2:2 10-bit, 4K: 60p50p 4:2:0 8-bit, 30p25p24p 4:2:2 10-bit recording* with unlimited recording. The GH5s comes pre-installed with HDR Hybrid Log Gamma and Panasonic’s V-LogL along with professional grade exposureEXPOSUREExposure is controlled by three elements: Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. Achieving the correct exposure is similar to collecting rain in a bucket, up to an optimum level. The rate of rainfall is out of your control (light), yet you can control these three factors: the bucket’s width (lens aperture), the duration you leave it in the rain (shutter speed), and how effective your bucket is in collecting rain (ISO). These three elements work together to control the amount of light per unit area, preventing underexposure (too dark) or overexposure (too bright), giving you a natural looking image. tools like Time Code sync, Waveform, Vector Scopes, and programmable Zebra patters. The Lumix GH5s supports important recording features like 14bit RAW for stills, dual native IS0, Panasonic XLR mic Adaptor support, and the return of multi-aspect capture.

Multiple Aspect Ratios — A Lumix GH5S Exclusive!

The Lumix GH5s sensor is capable of multiple aspect ratios; 4:3, 17:9, 16:9 and 3:2. Thanks to broad margins of effective pixelPIXELThe shortening of 'picture element', a basic unit of programmable colour forming the dots that make up an image. Pixel size depends on a camera’s resolution, which is measured in megapixels (MP), meaning millions of pixels. The more pixels on a sensor, the smaller they have to be to fit. An image's number (or density) of pixels correlate to the amount of information and image holds. Cameras with more pixels on the sensor have a higher pixel density and thus more resolving power, able to capture smaller details with much more clarity and accuracy. Higher resolution images can be cropped more agressively and also produce better quality large prints.s, focal lengthFOCAL LENGTHMeasured in mm, it is the distance from the focal point of a lens (its centre or curved mirror where light converges) to the plane of the image sensor (film) when an object is in focus. A shorter focal length lens sees a wider image and a longer focal length brings your subject closer. For example, a 15mm lens sees a very wide image and is perfect for landscape photography. Conversely, a 500mm lens sees a very narrow image, brings the subject much closer and is thus great for subjects that are far away, like a bird in a tree. With zoom lenses, its minimum and maximum focal lengths are indicated, for example, as 24-105mm. A zoom lens allows you to change the lens’ focal length, with shorter (wide-angle) and longer (telephoto) options, whereas a fixed focal length lens requires you to move back and forth to find the correct image composition. does not change in these aspect ratios. Available for still photography, 4K and C4K video, and in Anamorphic mode, this function allows you to fully leverage the angle of view of the lens for more creative options.

Also, even while using a larger sensor, high readout speeds are achieved. Rolling shutter distortion, compared to the Lumix GH5, is suppressed by approximately 1.3x with high readout speeds when recording video or using an electronic shutter.

Dual SD Card Slots

The Lumix GH5s is equipped with dual SD card slots for larger capacity recording and efficient file arrangement. Relay mode allows you to swap a full card out for an empty card so you can virtually record endlessly. The backup mode allows you to record continuously on one card, while you start and stop recording on the other card. Simultaneous record mode duplicates your recording on both cards. Both slots are compatible with high-speed, high-capacity UHS-II Video Speed Class 60 cards for high bitrate video recording.

4K 60-fps Burst

Shoot with extended burst, then choose and extract the exact frames you want to keep. The ultrahigh-speed 4K PHOTO mode at 60-fps with approximately 8-megapixels resolution freezes even faster motion which is simply not possible in conventional cameras. The Lumix GH5s truly does make moments unmissable.

Precise Focusing Even in -5EV Situations

Renowned LUMIX low-light AF performance has evolved to enable shooting down to the level of -5EV. This allows you to focus precisely even under the lighting of a starlit sky, ideal for shooting nighttime nature scenes and documentaries.

Professional Worldwide Versatility

The Lumix GH5s supports a wide range of professional applications, such as web, TV, DVD/Blu-ray and digital cinema production. It features a plethora of video formats and bitrates to record at up to 400Mbps (ALL-Intra) or 150Mbps (LongGOP (IPB Compression)).

The system frequency can be selected from 59.94Hz (NTSC), 50.00Hz (PAL), or 24.00Hz (CINEMA).

Operation is also enhanced by three video control panels — Shutter Duration/ISO, Angle/ISO, or Shutter Duration/dB. This provides solid support for professional worldwide video production.

*In MOV only.

Max.10x Slow Motion Video VFR

The VFR (Variable Frame Rate) lets you record videos with dramatic slow motion or unique quick motion in C4K/4K (60-fps maximum 2.5x slower*) or Full HD (240-fps maximum 10x slower*) quality.

*In 24p playback. Effect value varies depending on the recording format and frequency. The angle of view narrows if you select a frame rate with a number of frames greater than 204-fps.

C4K/4K 60p/50p Smooth Quality Video

The Lumix GH5s takes professional shooting performance to another level with high-precision, silky smooth 4K 60p/50p (Cinema 4K: 4096 x 2160 / QFHD 4K: 3840 x 2160 / MOV or MP4) video recording capability.

Faster frame rates mean excellent motion compensation plus you can slow down footage inside your video editing timeline without losing detail. You also achieve perfect panning control and a suppression of the rolling shutter effect as seen in lesser frame rates.

Perfect focal length can also be achieved as the Lumix GH5s features a multiple aspect ratio recording. There's also no recording duration limit so you can go beyond 30 minutes in all record settings

Splash/Dust/Freezeproof Rugged Design

The Lumix GH5s is built like a tank to withstand heavy use. It is freezeproof down to -23ºC in addition to splash / dustproof construction thanks to weather sealing on every joint, dial, and button. A magnesium alloy full-diecast armour frame makes the body lightweight yet durable while bringing ruggedness to the compact size. This camera can go everywhere you can.

*Splash Proof is a term used to describe an extra level of protection this camera offers against exposure to a minimal amount of moisture, water or dust. Splash Proof does not guarantee that damage will not occur if this camera is subjected to direct contact with water.

Input & Output

TC IN/OUT Terminal: The time code can be synchronised with an external device by using the bundled BNC conversion cable. This enables more precise image production for movies and documentaries, where multiple cameras are essential.

LINE Input Supported: LINE input is supported by Φ3.5mm mic jack. This makes it possible to input sounds from an external audio device, for more efficient video production.

Ultrahigh-speed Focusing and 14-bit RAW Burst

Capture even the fastest moving action thanks to DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology. It instantly calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels and achieves ultra high-speed AF and 8-fps burst shooting with AFC. 12-fps burst shooting with AFS is also available.

The Lumix GH5s also lets you select the 14-bit RAW file format. Equipped with rich colour and smooth gradation from approximately 64 times the colour information of 12-bit RAW, maximum 7-fps (AFC) / 11-fps (AFS) burst shooting greatly expands your range of creativity

Useful Functions for Nighttime Shooting

Night Mode: When shooting dark scenes like starry skies, this mode suppresses the stimulation of the eyes that are accustomed to the dark. The LVF and rear monitor can be set separately.

Live View Boost: The display is brightened by lowering the frame rate and increasing the gain. This lets you shoot while framing, even in extremely dark situations.

MF Assist 20x: The MF Assist display has been enlarged up to 20x. Accurate focusing is possible even on tiny objects like stars.

A Large High-Resolution Rear Monitor

A large 3.2-inch LCD monitor (1,620k-dot approx..) provides a crisp live view and high visibility even in sunny shooting conditions. It adopts RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) pixel structure to feature even higher visibility in the bright sun.

The tilt/swivel capability gives you the freedom to change perspective while maintaining easy operation and full image control. The monitor has Touch Focus control to allow instant focus by simply touching the subject on the screen. Plus, with Touch Shutter control you can point your finger at where you want the focus to be and it will release the shutter automatically.

Pre-installed V-LogL Video Recording Function

A neutral or flat logarithmic ("log") gamma curve captures wide dynamic range pictures ideal for colour grading. Plus, a LUT Display function assists your exposure and helps to show directorial intent (e.g., use V-Log to Rec.709 LUT for an HDTV look).

Hybrid Log Gamma for 4K HDR Video

HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a mode to reproduces both the bright parts and dark parts of an image, making it look just as the human eyes sees it. You can choose Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) in Photo Style.

Venus Engine Beauty

The marriage of a new Digital Live MOS sensor with the beautiful Venus Engine reproduces extraordinary colour detail and natural texture expression.

Multipixel Luminance Generation and Intelligent Detail Processing render intense brightness and contrastCONTRASTThe difference between areas of different brightness levels in a photograph: A high-contrast image has a greater difference between light and dark areas, whereas a low-contrast image has a narrow range of tones. Contrast is used to direct a viewer’s attention to a photographer’s subject either with colour contrast (bold versus duller colours) or tonal contrast (bright versus darker tones). . The Three-Dimensional Color Control zings with rich colours from dark to bright shades and high-precision Multi-Process NR makes your images pop even at high ISO ISO Exposure is controlled by three elements: Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. The ISO speed determines how sensitive a camera's sensor is to incoming light. A higher ISO speed absorbs more light, resulting in a brighter exposure, however, a higher ISO also results in more digital noise in low-light conditions. Cameras with larger sensors (like full-frame cameras) typically have higher ISO speed capability and produce less digital noise at high ISO settings. Digital cameras include a control for adjusting ISO speed, some of which can be set to adjust automatically in combination with certain other exposure settings. ISO is indicated in numbers usually starting at 100 and going upward (200, 400, 800, 1600 etc.) doubling in sensitivity each time. Most cameras also indicate 3rd stop intervals (100, 125, 180, 200 etc.)sensitivity settings.
