RF 24-240MM F/4-6.3 IS USM LENS

The Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM lens is the perfect walk-around lens for EOS R series mirrorless camera owners. This compact and lightweight 10x zoom lensZOOM LENSAllows a camera to, unlike a fixed-focal length or prime lens, change smoothly from a long shot to a close-up or vice versa by varying the focal length. A true zoom lens, also called a parfocal lens, is one that maintains focus when its focal length changes. Due to more moving parts, zoom lenses often produce images of slightly lesser quality than their prime lens counterparts. However due to the inherent flexibility of being able to vary the focal length, they are extremely popular for photography where composition needs to be adapted quickly - such as at weddings, for example. is ideal for travel and everyday photography. With a 24-240mm range, the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM can cover a variety of subjects at impressive ranges from 50 cm wide-angle to 78 cm telephotoTELEPHOTOA lens with long focal length capable of making distant objects appear nearer thus larger. Essentially, it isolates and magnifies the subject so that it appears as a full image when shooting from a distance. Telephoto lenses are ideal for photographing subjects that are further away, such as wildlife and sports photography.. Canon’s Nano USM provides accurate and fast AF for still images and is noticeably silent during movie shooting as it smoothly tracks a moving subject. With these features and more, including control that lets you easily change settings, the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM lens gives you the extensive range you need so you can spend less time changing lenses and more time capturing amazing photos and videos – even on your travels.

CANON RF LENS MOUNT

The Canon EOS RP features the RF lens mount, which supports Canon's line of RF-mount lenses. This mount has a wide 54mm diameter and short 20mm flange-back distance, which promotes the ability to design lenses that are both faster and smaller than their SLR equivalents. The mount also incorporates a 12-pin electronic contact system for more sophisticated autofocus and image stabilisation capabilities. This mount design also lends full compatibility to existing EF and EF-S-mount lenses via an optional EF-EOS R Mount Adapter.

HIGH IMAGE QUALITY

A large 26.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor is featured and serves as an ideal balance between high-resolution output, low-light performance, and high-speed capabilities. When paired with the DIGIC 8 image processor, the Canon EOS RP has a wide sensitivity range for working in a variety of lighting conditions.

  • 26.2 MP Full-frame CMOS Sensor: The EOS RP camera features a Canon-developed and produced 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with approx. 26.2 effective megapixelPIXELThe shortening of 'picture element', a basic unit of programmable colour forming the dots that make up an image. Pixel size depends on a camera’s resolution, which is measured in megapixels (MP), meaning millions of pixels. The more pixels on a sensor, the smaller they have to be to fit. An image's number (or density) of pixels correlate to the amount of information and image holds. Cameras with more pixels on the sensor have a higher pixel density and thus more resolving power, able to capture smaller details with much more clarity and accuracy. Higher resolution images can be cropped more agressively and also produce better quality large prints. s. It employs the DIGIC 8 Image Processor to enhance the speed of operations across the board. This means fast, efficient performance and phenomenal image quality for big prints.
  • ISO40000: The EOS RP camera has a standard ISO ISO Exposure is controlled by three elements: Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. The ISO speed determines how sensitive a camera's sensor is to incoming light. A higher ISO speed absorbs more light, resulting in a brighter exposure, however, a higher ISO also results in more digital noise in low-light conditions. Cameras with larger sensors (like full-frame cameras) typically have higher ISO speed capability and produce less digital noise at high ISO settings. Digital cameras include a control for adjusting ISO speed, some of which can be set to adjust automatically in combination with certain other exposure settings. ISO is indicated in numbers usually starting at 100 and going upward (200, 400, 800, 1600 etc.) doubling in sensitivity each time. Most cameras also indicate 3rd stop intervals (100, 125, 180, 200 etc.)sensitivity range of 100-40000 for stills and 100-25600 for video (100-12800 for 4K video shooting). Combined with the EOS RP camera's remarkable low-light AF performance, still and video shooting is possible even in dark situations.
  • Digital Lens Optimiser: The EOS RP camera has an in-camera Digital Lens Optimiser that works with RF lenses (and EF/EF-S lenses with a Mount Adapter) to provide a substantial improvement in image quality. The Digital Lens Optimiser limits deterioration in image quality caused by low-pass filterLOW-PASS FILTERAlso called an Anti-aliasing Filter. A filter made of a birefringent material, such as Lithium Niobate, placed infront of the image sensor. The filter's purpose is to reduce moiré, caused by large scale interference between fine textures and patterns in the image and the fine matrix pattern of the image sensor. The low-pass filter works by scattering any optical point in the image into a cluster of four, and effectively causing micro blur and thus removing the aliasing and consequently the moiré pattern. Some high-end cameras are deliberately designed without any low-pass filter in order to maximize the sharpness of the captured image - possible moiré is the trade-off. s or wide-apertureAPERTUREAperture, shutter speed and ISO form what is known as the exposure triangle in photography. Aperture refers to an opening inside the lens, similar to the iris of your eye, that changes in diameter to control the amount of light that enters a camera. Aperture is expressed in f-stops: the lower the number, the larger the aperture, e.g. f/1.4 is larger than f/8. A larger (or wider) aperture allows more light to pass through the lens to the sensor (film) as a picture is taken, particularly useful in low-light conditions. A larger aperture also produces a shallower depth-of-field, and thus more background blur. lens designs. It's usable both during shooting and when developing RAW data and does not affect continuous shooting speeds. Data from compatible EF and EF-S lenses is built into the camera, and data information from RF lenses is transferred near instantly through the EOS RP's 12 pin communication system

DUAL PIXEL CMOS AF FOR FAST & ACCURATE FOCUS

High-speed Focusing in Approx. 0.05 sec.*** The EOS RP camera's highly responsive Dual Pixel CMOS AF system features 4,779 manually selectable AF points** and can deliver sharp focus within approximately 0.05 seconds***. This means fast action can be captured and focus can be maintained with speed, accuracy and ease.

  • Test conditions: Brightness at time of distance measurement: EV12 (regular temperature, ISO 100)
  • Shooting mode: M
  • Lens in use: RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM, with a focal distance of 24mm

AF Area Coverage of Approx. 88% x 100%^

The EOS RP camera features an expansive focus area of approx. 88% horizontal and 100% vertical^ not only with RF lenses but also when working with select EF lenses. With older EF lenses, or with Extender types I and II, the EOS RP focuses approx. 80% horizontally and 80% vertically. This means fast and impressive focusing even if your subject is way off centre.

^ When shooting still photos. Actual coverage varies depending on the lens in use.
