Canon EOS M3 Mirrorless Camera Kit with EF-M 18-55mm Lens

Designed for existing DSLR users who want something smaller and compatible with their range of favourite lenses, plus existing compact camera users looking to move up to an interchangeable lens system camera without the extra size of a DSLR, the EOS M3 offers impressive build quality and reliability with the speed and quality associated with the legendary EOS system. Active photographers in particular, who want a camera with them at all times, will appreciate the small feature-packed body, which boasts an incredibly powerful 24.2 Megapixel APS-C sensor and super-fast DIGIC 6 processor.

The EOS M3 is made with a magnesium-alloy chassis with an aluminium body, to give a sturdy, high quality look and feel. The moment the camera is picked up, it imparts the feeling of a quality photographic tool with ergonomically designed buttons and a very familiar EOS DSLR menu system.

A large 7.5cm (3.0in) touch screen with high resolution has been designed to offer fuss-free convenient composing and reviewing. Use the touch screen to focus and shoot with a single tap, navigate the camera’s menu system and swipe back and forth to review images. The sRGB screen, consisting of 1,040,000 pixels to allow for accurate image review and composition, is tiltable upwards through 180° and downwards by 45° for high-angle shooting.

Share your images and control the EOS M3 remotely using the in-built WiFi function. Along with Dynamic NFC, it is possible to control the camera via tablet or smartphone, with control over settings made easy via the Camera Connect downloadable app.

With Creative Assist, the EOS M3 can be controlled with an easy-to-use touchscreen interface and the effects previewed in real time as you compose. Adjust brightness, background blur, vividness of colour, contrast, warmth and filter effects with ease and save favourite combinations of these settings as recipes for instant recall and share with other photographers by swapping image shot in Creative Assist mode.

For the ultimate in portability, the EOS M3 has its own bespoke range of EF-M lenses to accompany, which consist of the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, EF-M 22mm f/2 STM and – launched last year – the EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM.

The EOS M3 is also part of the EOS System – a collection of over 70 lenses and accessories trusted by professional and amateur photographers worldwide. The Mount Adapter EF-EOS M enables the EOS M3 to be used with premium EF L-series optics as well as lightweight EF-S lenses.

The EOS M3 allows you to be as creative over movies as stills. Manual control is offered from shutter speed and aperture to frame rate and ISO speed. The camera’s touchscreen controls let you create cinematic pull-focus effects while focus peaking shows which areas of the scene are sharp. Record high quality sound via the camera’s external microphone socket, too, and take advantage of Dynamic IS – the first EOS to have this feature – for the ultimate in smooth, vibration-free movies when filming on-the-go.

The EOS M3’s APS-C size 24.2 Megapixel Canon CMOS sensor has gapless microlenses to help deliver images and movies with stunning detail, colour and atmosphere. Pixels equipped with gapless microlenses maximise the sensor area, allowing each pixel to be more sensitive to light and yield less digital noise (especially at high ISO) making them ideal for capturing scenes in challenging light.

Larger pixels also have the capacity to provide a wider dynamic range, while the APS-C sensor size allows creative depth-of-field for more professional looking bokeh.

Hybrid CMOS AF technology enables users to experience EOS DSLR-like autofocus speeds without the bulk of a larger camera. Hybrid CMOS AF III allows for continuous focusing and smooth focus transition when shooting video while the EOS M3 supports near-silent Movie Servo AF with compatible STM lenses.

Hybrid CMOS AF III also enables ultra-fast focusing for stills shooting, approximately 6.1x faster then the original EOS M, while 49 AF points give a wide AF point coverage for users looking for more framing options when using autofocus. Higher density and smaller AF points also increase the camera’s ability to accurately lock on to the correct subject, allowing the user to fully utilise the large sensor to create beautiful images with the subject isolated.

Canon’s DIGIC 6 processor works in conjunction with the 24.2 Megapixel sensor to allow users to shoot in difficult lighting conditions and still obtain high-quality results.

The extra processing power of DIGIC 6 allows images to be captured and processed faster than ever before with an impressive 0.07sec shutter lag. JPEG images processed by DIGIC 6 yield up to 30 percent more detail and can be recorded in full resolution continuously up to 4.2 fps in creative (P, Tv, Av and M) modes for up to 1000 frames.
