Professional telephoto zoom lens
The EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM is high performance telephoto zoom lens and provides excellent performance for all general purposes. The compactness and light weight makes it an excellent travel companion. Lens construction features 16 elements in 13 groups with a diagonal field of view of 34-12º.
Fast, silent autofocus action
The lens has USM focussing with a closest focusing distance of 1.2m, and it accepts 67mm screw-in filters. A circular polarising filter can be attached and used without difficulty as the front lens element does not rotate during focusing.
Two ultra-low dispersion elements
Distortions and aberrations are remarkably small for a lens of such capability. This lens combines 1 artificial fluorite element with 2 UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) elements to help achieve images free of secondary spectrum aberrations, which are often the bane of consumer-grade telephoto zooms. It is light enough to not need a tripod collar, but for handling purposes there is an optional tripod collar.
The minimum focusing distance is 1.2m throughout its entire range of focal lengths, and it accepts 67mm screw-in filters. Note that Iiternal zooming and focusing means that the lens' front element does not rotate.
