EOS-R looks like a stunner. What awaits us in 2019? I am convinced that this is the start of something greater in the R-series. This definitely will be a good backup option if one already has a full-frame DSLR, but seems to be a good standalone as well. The third ring (customisable) on the new lenses brings many worlds together and it grabbed my attention. I certainly prefer this lens functionality above IBIS (it seems Canon has purposefully ignored IBIS to control costs, e.g. the new lenses with the third ring will not be cheap). Canon seemingly do not want to take the photographer away behind the gear, but gives more control by adding the third ring. Shooting wide open has taught me one thing, and that is to pace myself slower and being more thoughtful – I am referring to my non-stabilized Canon prime lenses. I like the EOS-R form factor, maybe Canon went to learn something from Leica with the more in-camera software control functions this time around. It seems Canon is holding onto their camera build legacy – a big cost saver. A great plus: original canon adapters!!!!!! Existing lenses will fit seamlessly. Thank you Team Outdoorphoto, I envy your first look at the EOS-R.
