It’s been a big year for mirrorless with the announcement of both the Nikon Z6 and Z7 (and RF lenses) and Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless series. Demand for the Sony Alpha 7 III remains high and the Fujifilm X-T3 is sure to lure fans with older models to upgrade.

The Canon 70-200mm rolling update features the same overall durability, but with better Image Stabilisation (IS) and added coatings to avoid ghosting and flaring. The EF 70-200 F/2.8 IS III USM, the flagship in this impressively versatile zoom range, features a 3.5-stop IS, a circular 8-blade aperture for smooth bokeh, and an inner focusing system with Ring Ultrasonic motor. Changes to the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM are more substantial. It has a new look and feel, and features a shortened minimum focusing distance from 1.2m to 1m, and updated optical IS to 5 stops. Both are only marginally more expensive, offering professional quality and an affordable price point.
With the adoption of a Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element, the Nikon 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR is significantly smaller and lighter (1460g), making handheld super-telephoto photographer easier. It hits a sweet spot of the focal length range which, together with high-level precision, is perfect for wildlife and sports photography. An added fluorine coating helps prevent dust and fingerprints.
Canon also launched the EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM & EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM – the world’s lightest professional super telephoto lenses in their class. Compatible with the new EOS R system, each lens features 5-stop IS and game-changing weight and portable design for shooting quality handheld images.
