Art of Print offers custom mounting and framing solutions for your artwork. Here Bridget Corke, an internationally accredited Portrait Masters Associate Photographer based in Johannesburg, opted for a floating matt board to complement her portrait studies.
Put your own stamp on it
At Art of Print, we work with artists to ensure that all artwork is printed, framed and mounted to perfection.
Bridget personalised her print using an embossed stamp. Art of Print incorporates this into the process to ensure that all artwork represents the client vision.
Floating matt board
Bridget opted for the floating matt board for mounting her artwork.
A floating matt board is achieved by mounting the window onto a foamboard lift (spacers) and then onto the matt backing. The lift’s thickness creates the floating effect and the shadow by spacing the art away from the backing. The edges of the lift are cut at a 45° angle so that when the frame is viewed from the sides, the lift disappears.
The matt board floats on top of the image with spaces between the image and the window mount. It gives the illusion that it is 3D and gives more depth to a frame that is flat. By creating depth it makes the image stand out and draws attention to the centre.
