Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Sports for Canon

The Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Sports is a telephoto zoom well-suited for sports and wildlife photography. Characterised by its bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture, this lens excels in available light conditions and also enables notable control over depth of field throughout the zoom range.
The optical design incorporates a series of low dispersion elements, which help to greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing in order to realise high clarity and colour accuracy. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied to control flare and ghosting for improved contrast. Balancing the optics, and making it well-suited for action shooting, is a Hyper Sonic Motor that provides especially fast and quiet autofocus performance. An Optical Stabiliser also works to minimise the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Also, a tripod collar is included, too, to suit using the lens atop a tripod or monopod.
- EF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
- Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/22
- Two FLD Elements, One SLD Element
- Super Multi-Layer Coating
Telephoto zoom is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 192-480mm equivalent focal length range.
The recently introduced Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM lens is the first lens to be part of Sigma's Global Vision Sports line, and as such, strives to be a highly precise and optically sound lens that can function well in fast-paced situations. The long reach of this lens, coupled with a large constant maximum aperture make it ideal for shooting from a spectator's vantage point, while capturing imagery that exhibits a type of intimacy as if it were being photographed from close-up. While this lens category is given the name "Sports," it is equally well suited for nature, wildlife, bird and race shooting; essentially situations that must be observed from a distance but are still fast-paced and spontaneous. - Bjorn Peterson
