New Addition To The Legends Range

Following in the footsteps of Mike and Jay, we have two more hybrid photo-video tripods for you, Nicky and Tommy. These tripods have been named after two more awesome skateboarders, Nicky Guerrero and Tommy Guerrero. Nicky is a 4-section carbon fibre tripod. He is the more travel friendly of the two but does not compromise on height. Tommy is a 3-section carbon fibre tripod with an impressive working capability. With 38mm tubing Tommy is the sturdiest tripod 3LT has made to date.

3 Legged Thing's Nicky is a hybrid photo-video tripod with 2 plate options - Flat plate and 75mm Bowl mount. Nicky can hold up to 60 kg / 132.2 lb yet weighs only 2.40 kg giving him an impressive 25:1 load-to-weight ratio. Nicky has been engineered to support DSLRs and larger video cameras, making this the ideal tripod for landscape photographers and videographers. The maximum height of this tripod is 1.56 m / 61.41 ” fully extended and can reach as low as 12.4 cm / 4.88 “, with legs at 80˚ using the flat plate.

The use of twist locks makes deployment quick and easy. With its three detachable 4-section legs, Nicky is more suited to travel, as with the canopy separated from the legs, it can fit into most carry on luggage. For additional attachment of accessories, Nicky has a 1/4”-20 screw thread on the side of the canopy. With the legs detached and the addition of optional 3LT footwear, Vanz (sold separately), Nicky can also be used as a table-top tripod.

Like other tripods in the Legends range, Nicky has the Rapid Latch to enable quick and easy changes of leg angles, even while wearing thick gloves. The O-Pads which are inset into the legs locks give users greater grip, leverage and water displacement. 

New Key Features

Nicky and Tommy come with 3 new features, an interchangeable plate in the canopy, 1/4"-20 accessory mounting point and new thicker carbon fibre tubing.

• Interchangeable Plates: The tripods come complete with both interchangeable flat plate and 75mm bowl mount. Our flat plate has a 3/8"-16 thread to attach any of our AirHeds or any head compatible with this thread and a hook under the plate to allow the carry case to be attached using the carabiner. The 75mm bowl mount is really self-explanatory, it will accept any 75mm bowl head, or half bowl. 
• Accessory Mount: On the canopy under the spirit level, we have added a 1/4"-20 accessory mounting thread to allow for a small monitor, microphone or light to be attached to help with your videos or photography. 
• Thicker Tubing: Using the thickest 100% carbon fibre tubing to date, this makes Nicky and Tommy the strongest and most stable tripods across the range. This allows photographers and videographers the freedom and security to mount camera gear and accessories up to 60kg onto the tripod. 

Legends Range Features

As Nicky and Tommy are part of the Legends Range these two tripods share some of the technology you have previously seen with Mike, Jay, Ray & Bucky:

• Rapid Latch: The Rapid Latch was designed to overcome issues for photographers with disabilities, and to enable those wearing thick gloves to easily and quickly manage angles.
• O-Pads: The O-Pads are ring-shaped rubber pads, inset with our famous bubble-grip pattern. The combination of these technologies provides better water displacement and grip than any tripod in our history.
• Table Top conversion: As a standard feature of all Legends Range tripods, all three legs are detachable, enabling conversion to table-top or low-level tripod. This is achieved using our Vanz combined ball and spike footwear, which can be upsold as a recommended accessory (SKU: PROVANZ). The detached legs can be used as monopods or boom arms.

Nicky Guerrero & Tommy Guerrero

These two tripods have been named after skateboard legends, Nicky Guerrero and Tommy Guerrero. Same surname, yet not related! Just a coincidence. Nicky is from Copenhagen, Denmark, and Tommy is from San Francisco. 

Nicky started his skating career with Gordon & Smith in 1986 and later joined the Powell Peralta in 1990 as part of the Bones Bridge. His career lasted 4 years and as a promise to family, he went back to school and is now a kindergarten teacher but still skates and takes part in competitions across the world.

Tommy was part of the original members of the Bones Brigade in 1984 and later started his own skateboarding company called Real. After his skateboarding career, Tommy focused on his love of music being a part of Skate Rock and Free Beer.
