      Good comp with the bird well placed in the frame. Nice colours and feather detail. A greater DOF, at least f8, even f11, would have given you more detail overall as the head detail is soft. Assume you were quite close, so "impossible" to get good feather(back) and head (front) detail. A shot with the head turned sideways would also have added a bit more. Morne, you asked, so hope this helps a little bit.

      Thank you Wessel. its true, with the head turned it would have probably given the photo more personality.
      eish man, one of those hindsight moments where you think, ag if only i did this and that. it looked good on the lcd. he was shaking/vibrating his feathers the whole time. maybe upping the iso to get the speed and aperture up..... will need to sneak up to him again to try once more.

      The comp works well and you captured great colours...try keeping the SS a bit higher for really sharp avian images.
