Taken in Mashatu. This female's one cub (4 months?) was making its way up the tree toward her to eat, and for some reason her reaction was to snarl and spit. She did make way for him eventually though. crits and comments welcome. I didnt shoot with flash, so the neck is in darkness due to the spotlight. I prefer spotlit at night, although thats just personal choice. Crits and comments both welcome

Laura, to me, - this is wonderful! The photograph is dramatic, facial expression great, and in my opinion the lighting adds to the drama of the shot and anything else might have spoilt it?

      Hi Laura
I really like it; very expressive, nice and sharp and the lighting well handled.
I agree with you about the use of a spotlight rather than flash at night; I feel it creates a far more dramatic image and is more flattering for the subject. I also like the composition with the gory bits of the carcass as well as the branch still in frame but not distracting.
All that I would consider trying is removing those the branches in the bg.
      Nicely done.

      Mike. .

I'm with you on using only the spotlight...far more impact than if you used a flash!
