WOW!!! I struggled long and hard enough just to see this one, and you got quite a good photo of it. Nothern Natal? Bottom up look not my favorite, but it does show the very distinct coloring quite nicely.

      Chris,
I'd give a lot to get this chappie in my viewfinder and 600mm lens! Very nice opportunity and well used as well.

Chris, Wow - very nice photo of a rarely seen bird - well done. As far as the angle of view is concerned - my personal view is that bird photos at a perch should always be seen from either level or from below - the angle here is just fine for me - just goes to show how personal all this is. Cheers

Nice clean shot of a bird very difficult to get in the open! Well done!

I think it is important to get photo's of birds from all angles. You can see areas of the bird here, which would be hidden if the 'perfect' angle was achieved, so I don't have a problem with the angle of the photo.

Just hope you did get one from every angle and would love to see them.

once again this photo gets the...

      Wow!

      form me.

Thanks for the comments, noted. It took four hours of hiking and calling to get this guy to finally pop out in a decently open place. Taken at Hluleka in the Transkei.

      Chris,

I've heard one = that's it, well done. Top of my 'to snap' list.
I've been told that Kwa-Zulu - around Zimbali is best place for success. I've tried Knysna forest - no luck. Your advice?

Thanks for the comments guys. Patrick I do not know Zimbali, can't advice you there. Another very good place where I got them close was Buzzard Mountain Retreat in the Soutpansberg. Andre, Hluleka is iets besonders, ook van die beste plekke vir Dwergvisvangers.
