Wedding Shoot PE
Any keen on assisting me with a wedding shoot on 31 May in Uitenhage. I'm shooting for free (to gain experience). Ideally the tog should have a canon slr camera, that way in one camera gives up the ghost the other is there as backup etc

Hi Bernadette
As long as the persons not a complete novice and understands the concepts, then we all have to start somewhere I suppose.

Re: Wedding Shoot PE
If you don't find anyone else of more experience I wouldn't mind joining you. But I don't know if I will be of any assistance. Maybe we can meet beforehand just to see if we can even work together?
Kind regards
Bernadette

Thats no problem. Alternatively we could all get together. Haven't been to any PE meets yet and it would be great.

Forgot to mention I am the only PE Wedding photog that uses proper kit like imported (Cant get them in SA) things like a Really right Stuff off camera Flash Bracket (USA) so you shoot in portrait and Landscape format and the flash stays on top without flopping to the side when you go portrait mode ,...so important for accurate flash work. Of course the superlative SB800 with its accurate flash is used along with specialist wedding glass. Kevin we need to charge for all weddings in PE ...EL for example you wont find a free wedding but in PE I quoted R1800 to a person who was spending R50000 on eats etc and was summarily dismissed as a "Rip off Artist" and they got a friend who was able to source a camera from another friend. They have now come to me with the mess to fix in Photoshop...my quote R4000 per day for 3 days work...They got the message !!!!Photography at a wedding is THE single MOST IMPORTANT part and should be charged for Period. There are far to many part time housewives or workers with week day jobs who moonlight for R800 on the week ends and stuff up the industry and the pros ability to put food on the table

Re: Wedding Shoot PE
Peter, you are of course totally correct. Wedding photography (good wedding photography!!) is a lot more difficult to get right than it would appear from the sidelines. You get one chance at the shot, then it's gone. Get your lighting wrong (and on-camera flash is difficult to get looking good) and the shot looks k*k. I have shot afew weddings in my time - high stress if you are not an experienced pro, not my idea of fun. You need top quality flash equipment, a backup body and flash in case Murphy strikes, and you need to spend a lot of effort on post processing to get really good results. The real pros may appear to charge a lot of money, but in my opinion, they work damn hard for every cent.
