Arrow Releases again - quick one...

Ok, so we all know we need a model release when we shoot someone. Or a couple of people. But when does it become ridiculous? Say we shoot a crowd of 30 odd people - do we have to get each and every one to sign a MR if we intend using the image for gain?

Take it to the ridiculous - photograph of Loftus in full swing, with a large format camera, so every single face in the frame is recognisable - what do we do - run around and offer everyone a free beer for signing the model release?

The question is, where is that line, if it exists at all?

Basically, you need a release if it's for commercial work, if it's for editorial then you don't.

so if the pic contains 30 recognisable faces, you need 30 model releases?

But that would have been done before the shoot.

If it's a Loftus crowd it won't be used for commercial. They would set it up beforehand and shoot.
