    Default 40D Pricing

    To all our ODP Members

There has been a discussion on ODP regarding the pricing for the new 40D Canon Body. We would just like to set the record straight that the price of R 11 999 - Was only an Introduction price for the first 15 pre-orders made by our clients. As for the rest - unfortunately - the price from here on will be R 12 199. (Incl vat.) We apologise for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused.

    Regards,
    Alicia & Jean

In the bigger scheme of things, I don't think R200 makes such a difference.

R200 bucks may be a lot to some (hell it will help towards the extra battery). So may not seem like much, but that is relevant.
My enthusiasm is all there, the experience I am still working on.

Certainly to some it would make a difference, I suppose, but if you *need* a 40d, then R200 will fade into the background as you hand your credit card over...

Sorry Alicia, Yes I was propably one of thr first orderers. That R200 does not really make a difference. I want the cam and I want it ONLY from Hedrus. Will gladly pay the extra R200. I started hunting For this piece of equipment from you for weeks now. REGARDS

Sorry to reply to an old thread, but I couldn't help to think about the days (not so long back), when the 300D made it's mark and cost was R10500. Look what you're getting for R1000 more!!! WOW, thanks Canon.

    Regards

No, I don't think they have been ripping us off, Swicks. Just economies of scale. Heck, my first computer cost exactly half what my house cost!
People on these forums are often in trouble for starting Canon/Nikon debates (and no, I am not starting another one), but good, solid competition from the opposition always keeps the rip-offs in check. Judging by the 40D features and price, we are reaching a maturity level. It is better and cheaper than the 30D, but the "step" is not as steep as it was with the D60 and 10D, for instance. (not to mention the painfully expensive D30 - ouch!)
