Re: Microstock / Stock Photography
Just reached my first $500 on SS - and best month ever.
Glad to earn $0-33 instead of $0-25 per image.

Re: Microstock / Stock Photography
My apologies if this has been asked and answered but I was just wondering: If a magazine or publisher purchases one of your images from eg Shutterstock, do they purchase for one "print" or usage or can they use it as many times as they want e.g. 20000 magazine copies for only a few dollars?
Again my apologies if it is a rather dumb question but I have been wondering about this for a while.

Re: Microstock / Stock Photography
Depends on the license and agency they purchase it from. Each agency has license terms on their site, that specify usage terms.

Re: Microstock / Stock Photography
Roy,
As Chris mentioned, the licences for each site differs, but you will generally find that it's something in the line of one licence per:
single client for 1-3 mediums (web + Flyer + ad) for a 3-6 month term for less than 10,000 prints... It rarely unlimited usage, and rarely exclusive... as soon as those come into play the pricing change ... sometimes dramatically.
It's a good idea to check your representing sites terms of sale/usage and licences before signing up.

Just the thing I need to know - thanks for asking D&A! I've just got on to Shutterstock. In SA, is Paypal only usable through an FNB account? Or are there other ways to retrieve the money? Any help will be much appreciated!

For Shutterstock... I prefer Moneybookers. FNB has yet to find somebody that actually know how their systems integrate to PayPal

Re: Microstock / Stock Photography
Is it worth while for an amateur that shoots wildlife and avian to register on a stock site?
