CPP vs LR
anybody using CPP ??
how does this stand up against LR ?
PS - I upgraded to LR4, due to the MkIII .... BUT, LR4 wont work on my laptop ..... (I DO do all my processing on my desktop, still handy to be able to view the RAW files on the laptop)

Re: CPP vs LR
Chris....do you mean DPP?
If all you want to do is access your RAW files on the laptop then this will work very well along with Zoombrowzer.I used this software for many years and it works well but lightroom is far advanced as far as editing goes in my opinion. The software still works very well regrdless.

Why not? The download includes a 32 bit and a 64 bit executable, and there is no difference to Windows between LR 3 and 4 on my Win 7 x64 PC, or Vista x32 laptop.
Windows also have a codex to view CR2 files. If I'm not mistaken there was an update last week to handle the 5D Mk III files. As I do not use the Win codex, I have no clue where to tell you to look, but a Google search will lead you to it.

Chris (the man from Durban Rd, Bellville)
Why did you buy the upgrade from ORMS (I know it is just across the road!) and not pay and download?

Re: CPP vs LR
Chris..Digital Photo Professional is the Canon software as well as Zoombrowzer as i said.It is actually very good software and the fact it is free makes it a bonus. The latest versions have added new tools that makes it quite powerful for most needs.

Re: CPP vs LR
Installed DPP last night. The DPP package is quit powerfull, and if one works at it it might even be a usefull tool.
For somebody used to LR it would be a bit cumbersome though ....
I was not impressed with Zoombrowser. Will spend a bit more time with it later, and see if I can come to grips with it. (I had issues in selecting what photos to select to view ...)
