    Default Noise reduction software

My prime interest is nature photography, I shoot with Canon equipment 1D4/5D2, and process with LR4 (just installed, not yet familiar, previously ACR5, PS5
Please advise which additional noise reduction software plug-in, if any, you would recommend. Topaz, neatimage, Dfine etc? Do you consider this necessary with the advances in LR4 for processing from raw.
    Thanks for your opinions

The NR function on LR 4 is very, very good. It is important that you learn how to do the all the funtions under the < Detail tab. Only if you really need to go further - then export and work it in PS.

I have used neat image pro for some years now and have been very happy with it.

Nik software's NR seems to do a good job - but if you have LR already - and it works well - that would be first prize for sure.

Thanks for all these replies, I think for now I will be focusing on LR mostly. Its just that occasional bird and such ,where layers, selective NR on bg etc come into play that have made me wonder. I think perhaps first to master the new LR, and then consider further.
    Many thanks

DaveK, you can also try Topaz DeNoise. It works the best for me, most of the times it takes out all the noise without affecting the sharpness that much and if it does you mask it out a bit!

    It's a Photoshop plugin btw.
