    Default Chobe - trip recomendations

I'm looking at going to Chobe in the near future.

At the moment I'm looking at a packaged photography trip like The Nikon Travel Africa trips or Pangolin Photo safaris or ODP's Nguni voyager trip.

Are there any operators/ trips that any one can recommend ?

I've looked at self drive options too but I don't have 4x4 and even if you can it seems joining ad-hoc boat trips/ Game drives seem to work out very close to what the packaged safaris cost.

And probably work out way way cheaper than owning, running and maintaining a 4x4 .

I hired a 4x4 vehicle in Maun for the two of us for 12 days which worked out cheaper than any safari package deal. Bushlore http://www.bushlore.com/ for instance hires Toyota Land Cruisers for approximately R1530 per day at R15530 for 10 days where's a safari package will set you back that amount per person for less than a week.

The plus side for me is the self drive but the downside was that most of these rental vehicles looked poorly maintained and missed a fair amount of listed equipment, a double fuel tank being one of them

I have never used Bushlore and only found out about the company in the parks which is way cheaper than any other company I managed to find however the downside with this company was the fact that we saw a fair amount of breakdowns (only Toyota Hi-Lux) but there was always someone able to help.

Would I do it again, Yes!

We stayed on the incobezi houseboat earlier this year. really recommend them. service and everything was outstanding.we had the whole boat though so we could dictate as to what we wanted to do. what is also good is that is sleeps 8 people and has 4 tender boats. this allowed everyone to do what they wanted whether it was fishing, cruising or photography.

I have spent some time with Pangolin and I can higly recommend them. The purpose built boat was amazing with it's custom made camera mounts. You get more people looking at you that at the animals

Also, the unimog was fantastic for the bush, even at a kill, you simply look right over all the other vehicles. Plus you have lots of room to walk up and down if something interesting happens.
