Default Saving image from tiff to jpeg

I finished with editing a 16 bit Tiff image, so I flatten, then go: IMAGE, MODE, 8 BIT. Then I sharpen for print (round about 70%) Then I save first to jpeg (for printing) and then I go back one step in history pallet, resharpen for web (about 25%) then downsize the image too 100 pixels/ inch and then save for web. Now the web image displays perfectly in my finder window and on the web but the Jpeg looks very desaturated, same as the tiff. In Photoshop all off them looks great. What am I missing? I've saved the images onto DVD from finder, took them too the lab and they look like in finder, slightly desaturated. Any ideas where I am doing what wrong?

Since I left this message I have opened up the effected images in different programs. From Lightroom, Apple's preview program, again in Photoshop and in all these programs the image displays perfectly. Which let's me to believe the problem is with how my Mac record's the image in Finder. Any ideas?

what colour space is your 16-bit TIFF in?

when you use save-for-web do you tick 'include ICC profile' box?

Thanks Steve, yes it was a profile problem. I unwittingly started editing on Adobe RGB, then just saved too sRGB right at the end. I just stepped back and did the conversion from Adobe RGB to sRGB and it already looks a lot better. Luckily the end use of these images are for A2 Canvas prints, so the lab told me I can give them the 8bit Adobe RGB Tiffs. The large format printers do read it. It's just very strange that the web image shows up correctly without the conversion, but the printed not.
