    I'll try again this evening but a google search tells me that the SD card must be the selected card for playback of images on the camera for it to work

    Duh, I forgot about the dual slots on the new 5D.

    You may have stumbled on the solution.

    No, well almost no. The Sandisk is the same as the Connect X2 and Mobile X2 eye-fi cards which afaik means no RAW support

    ah... yes. That is more accurate... I have not even considered trying to push 20mp RAW files through it, so I didn't bother to check that.

    Hi

    the Sandisk card is a rebranded Eye fi card set up I believe for distribution in Europe - its not able to process raw ( as I say don't think i would even want it to my raw files are like 43megs)

    Remember when you set up the second slot with the Eye-Fi card that it should be recording Jpeg - I forgot to do this the first time - everything worked except that no images were transferred.

    Hi Walter

    You're shooting on a D800, so I take it that the CF card records RAW, and the Eye-Fi records JPEG. What size/quality JPEG setting do you use, and what are the JPEG file sizes? How long does it take to transfer?
    Right is so wrong...

    @lefty Yes thats exactly correct.

    I am still experimenting with the set up so don't take this as gospel - I am now using shuttersnitch because of the comments further down the thread that allows me to zoom into the image, and also shows other useful stuff, I have used M normal and at this setting my jpeg files are around 4 meg. 20.3Mp It goes through a 2 step process recieving then analysing. The entire process takes around 8 seconds.

    With the same settings the eyefi native app is like half a second longer. allowing for the inaccuracy of my measurement to all intents and purposes the same.

    S normal takes around 6 seconds and is perfectly adequate. (2.3 megs and 9Mp) so i will probably switch to that.

    For both of them it takes a while for the connection between the card and the app to be established (it appears to be longer with the eye fi - app) but again I just tested it once so that I could answer you.

    once the connection is established it just flows in 6-10 sec intervals (from when I press the shutter)

    It frustrates me that I can't connect with the direct connection - but hopefully that will be sorted in the next firmware update.
