    I'm sure this works well in USA &Europe, but I don't think (or know?) how our airports will deal with this sort of "luggage"......

    we wont know unless we try........ I suspect they will make you take it out and hand it in to the pilot - and you get it back on landing. sort of defeats the object.

    Won't work here. Firearms are required to be handed in before going through security which means it will travel separately to your baggage. Which, considering the level of theft at our airports, is a good thing.

    It would be interesting to put this to the test. I know that recently that airlines have stopped transporting firearms, i.e. if someone in Cape Town sells a rifle to someone in Johannesburg you have to transport it to them by road and not by air. They refuse to even transport air rifles, and anyone who knows anything about PCP air rifles will confirm that when they are empty they are completely inert, just a random collection of steel and wood, you cannot load it, you cannot fire it. That falls on deaf ears with the airlines and they want nothing to do with them at all.
