    Default Lenses

    I have a Canon 50D and use a 150-500 Sigma DG Stabilized lens on it. I do mostly wildlife and birding pics. Would the Canon 100-400 lens give me clearer pics, or is the trade off on that last 100 mm too big?

    Borrow/rent a 100-400, and test it side by side, on a tripod, same aperture etc, making sure that both are properly calibrated with your 50D body.
    look at 100% crops and you will have the answer.
    FWIW my personal experience: I have no doubt you will get clearer pictures. Check out 'the digital picture website', and look at the comparisons, someone has already done the work for you.

    However, some say the Sigma 50-500 OS is better at 400mm...
