    Default Check my Specs please

LR 3 has got the better of my 2 core processor! I see LR4 is out so please bear that in mind as I will migrate to that soon. I shoot RAW, Canon 1ds 11. I need some processing power and would appreciate your input.

    I am looking at:

Intel H61 chipset Gen 2 core i7 microcore i7 atx motherboard
intel Ivy bridge core i7 3770 3.4 ghz
    8 gb DDR 3 Ram
1 tb Seagate 7200 rpm 3.5 HDD sata.
    USB 3

Will run win 7 pro 64.

Not too clear on, if a graphics card will benifit me as I only edit stills, any info here is welcome.
Will a seperate solid state scratch disk benifit me with this setup.

    Thank you
    Ryan

DOn't forget the screen, just as important as the rest.
Samsung for the avergae budget and NEC if you have the cash.

With one HDD, how do you plan on doing backups?

I'd also put in 16GB RAM - the more the merrier

As it is would be great pc. If you want to spend more my seqeunce would be

    extra HHD
    IPS Screen
    RAM
    SSD

    leave the graphics card.

    That said ssd are cool

Thanks people, I run a Samsung T240, which I callibrate often with my Spyder.
Backup is done on shutdown of LR to an external drive, when downloading my RAW they are also duplicated on my external.
I will put in 16 gb Ram

I will think about that SSD

    Thanks again

I have the i5 setup, with 16Gig ram .. currently stil using LR3, absolute pleasure to edit a couple of hundred pics at a time.

and yes the USB3 DO make a difference as well. DO check which ports are USB 3 though ... on my machine it is only at the back, and the cable that came with the USB3 card reader was to short to be of any use to me .... fortunately I could swap it out with a friend.
