As for the shooting @ 10000 - yeah heaps of cameras can do it, but NONE do it this well. By your logic every car with a V8 should go the same, I'd better trade in my German rubbish for something cheaper.

If anyone wants to know what the best camera is today, the 1Dx currently owns that honor.
You posted the rubbish - don't paint me as the idiot. "I'm sure you'll keep kidding yourself that the camera doesn't make a difference, but as I said this one really does." Please can we see an example of one of your 1DX images that is impossible with any previous camera. Not talk, or insults this time - an actual image.
"By your logic every car with a V8 should go the same." No, by my logic, every car with a 200 kW engine develops the same power. And it does.

Maybe it is, but I, for one, need a little more evidence than you have provided. Once again, one of your "recalibrating photography" example photographs will go a long way to convince us.

All I can say after reading the post from Strattbe is this:

I don't have a 1Dx, but I got my 5DMk3 about 6 weeks ago. I won't make any statements (scientific, substantiated or otherwise) apart from simply: I absolutely LOVE my 5DMK3!

If the 1Dx is like the 5DMk3 and/or better (going on the specs and capacity) I can fully understand why Strattbe is so excited.

I've owned the 5DMk1 and the 7D (no 1D-series yet) and I can honestly say that the 5DMk3 is such a pleasure to use, that I just want to take photos with it all the time! It really is such a refined, well-designed and versatile photographic tool. Like one of the Canon ambassadors said after testing the 5DMk3: 'The only problem is that you can no longer blame the camera if your photos are poor!'

    Interesting thread ...
I am not an owner of a 1Dx either, neither is the short term plan. The time for blaming the camera ran out a few models ago. Everything is relative tho. The 1Dx will lead one to spend serious money as I am lead to believe it is just brilliant with the new mk2 range of CanonL lenses.

Deon, good point about the MK2 lenses! I think the new generation Canon sensors are so good that Canon HAD to upgrade the lenses to match the cameras! I found when going from film on my 1N film body to the 5DMk1 that my old lenses were just not good enough and I eventually changed all my lenses to 'L-variants'. I think the reason is I never looked at film prints at the same size / magnification that we do on screen with 1:1 ratio. Having said that, I do not have any Mk2 L-lenses yet. Most of the reviews are so super critical and mostly compare the lenses wide open at max aperture and then scrutinize the corners of the image. My solution: use the great high ISO of the new 5DMk3 / 1Dx and then just stop down to f8....the resulting image quality is darn close to Mk2 lenses....and it saves me thousands and thousands in upgrading lenses!!!
