    Hi Kaylene,

    Facebook link seems dead?

anyhoo... like any business today, if you want to do this as a business, you will need to do an extensive marketing campaign along with cold calling for clients. There is no easy way anymore. Clients don't come to you anymore.

    Hi Kaylene,

Personally I would not consider a photographer that does not have a dedicated website to promote their business. If your portfolio is only available on Facebook then I would not even consider contacting you.

The use of social media is great if it is backed up by a professional website showcasing your portfolio and maybe some testimonials from clients.

P.S. There is a spelling error in the link,
    it should be www.facebook.com/KayleneBernardoPhotography

    Regards,
    Marco

This is great advice... I am currently working on a website, which should be up and running soon. Thank you for the advice. I can see where and how this can work.

    Regards

My link is incorrect... sorry about that. however thank you for your advice. Can i ask what you mean by "cold calling" clients? Thank you once again.

Cold calling simply means you reaching out to potential clients. Go to a school with an example pack and an offer for shooting the kids. Always have business cards with you that displays a specific job type and hand them out where-ever you go, for instance a model portfolio card when you see a cute girl walking down the street with her friends or a family orientated card you give to a mother and child in a shopping centre

Just wanted to say to Sean (and many others here as well) always humbled by the way you're willing to provide info and tips especially on the business front, cutting it as a photographer full-time is no easy feat, so the advise and tips is always worth it's weight in gold. Good on you...all of you.

One thing you can do is just keep on posting great photos you take to facebook. You need to keep that up. I still haven't finished my website, I only got my business cards yesterday, and I've literally never advertised myself, and I have loads of work. You just need to keep showing people your work. Update update update.
