What's a great F1.2 or possibly F1.4 Lens for Canon?
I'm considering a F1.2 Lens for Canon , wondering what options are available , something reasonably sharp wide open?
Canon L would be the best I'd imagine but I've had great experiences with Sigma & Tamron's pro level Canon lens.
The Canon 85mm f1.2L is one option and the Canon 50mm f/1.2L which apparently has superb bokeh but chromatic aberration issues.
The one thing about a F1.2 lens that would make me consider a F1.4 is the enormous weight relative to focal length . Some say a good copy of the Sigma EX 50mm F1.4 will do all that I need.
I do want F1.2 for the extra bit of bokeh "wow" it adds to pics and low-light useage.
Another option is the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm F1.4 for Canon but that's manual only - there are times when under pressure that having auto-focus is indispensable , but I generally like manual focusing if there's time . Image quality is apparently superb with the Carl Zeiss , would be interested to hear from anyone who has used that particular lens.

A point to note is I have found quite a few people mentioning that having a body that supports lens micro-adjustment is the only way you'll get some sharpness wide open on a F1.2 lens - ie the 85 or 50mm L canon F1.2 lens , that also applies to a slightly lesser degree to any F1.4 lens.
The DOF is so razor thin at these wide aperture's , if there's just the slightest back or front focusing in combination with your particular body you will struggle to get any keepers wide open.

SL, these super fast lenses are often very sharp.. but mostly not simultaneously.
Either you use them wide open and fast, or stopped down and sharp. More so on a FF body.
If you need fast, no argument.
If you need sharp, consider saving money by buying the slightly slower version.
For more specific advise, I suggest indicate what you plan to use it for, which bodies you have, etc.

On 5D MK I's
To be used for low-light event shoots , studio portraits , maybe one or 2 location/landscape shots and some product shots
Basically looking for the that F1.2 subject isolation that if used wisely can be worth more than gold

For low light you need fast. Rent the options first so you can pick optimal FL..
