Default Canon 5DII 2nd hand prices

With the release of the 5D3, what sort of prices should one be looking for on a 2nd hand 5D2 in excellent condition with minimal actuations (under 5k)
Both for body only and with the 24-105 lens

From this thread over a year ago I see 13k-15k for the body but the prices these days (with the 5D3 released as well) in the classifieds arent cheaper at all! http://www.outdoorphoto.co.za/forums...highlight=5DII

I have a 5DII with less than 500 actuations in mint condition and selling it for 13K to 15K I would most probably be selling my self short but If I try and sell at 18 to 20K I may not even to find a buyer?

Well.....i as a potential buyer(I am thinking of buying a second hand MkII).....would snap one up at 13k...under 5k actuations......but at 15K woudn't think about it. I have seen people advertising them on ODP....over 20k actuations.....15k plus??????
I realise people paid a lot of money back then......but at just over 19K brand new in C.T....how can those prices be justified? If people are paying those prices....then obviously they can!

Pity there's no real way of knowing just how many actuations most Canon DSLRs actually have short of sending it in to Canon.

Would be pretty neat if there was a handbook such as the second hand vehicle sales where vehicle prices are determined by make, model, condition, odometer reading Etc?

If you buy the 5DmkII 24-105 kit and sell the 24-105 for about R1300 less than in the shop, you can have a brand new 5DmkII for about R18k

Generally, on good quality, high end canon and nikon products, boxed in excellent condition, you are looking at about 80% value of new price (so about R15k) this drops quickly if box or spares are missing, the unit is used (or well used) or has visible scuff marks 70% or less of new value. Typical price on a product with known problems, or servicing problems/costs or lesser known brands... prices in good nick is only about 50% (but it depends, as always, on supply and demand)

It is important to note that the Book Value of the car is determined NOT by the book, but that the book is a summation of car prices paid for, and cars sold, by dealers.

In the end, it is still a supply and demand issue when you get to second hand goods - the book (or that secret list at a dealer ) is only a guide...

Pretty much sums up my experience with ORMS as well.

5D MkII just over 4000 actuations, with battery grip. All original boxes, manuals and CD's. Will be on sale SHORTLY .... (pity the Mk III uses a different battery grip)

For me, I am actually looking at a MKii, but would only be prepared to pay 12.5k, and then actuations would need to be low.

Otherwise may as well get a Mki at 5k replace the shutter, 3k and for 8K I got a brand new camera, that still rocks.

    Having said that...
