Default ZoneAlarm {firewall + ...} upgrade more expensive than buing new

WT!@#$, ZoneAlarm upgrade more expensive than buying new.

I have been using ZoneAlarm for years now. It allows me to block incoming and outgoing traffic. One used to be able to customize it that specific programs can access a port. Will have to see if that option is still available.

But what gets me, renew at $59.95 special from $79.95
    If I buy new, $44.95 !!!

Companies like this should not exist. Giving new customers better discounts than loyal followers.

My licence expire in a day, well, have gone the option of using the free product with not all the bells and whistles that I don’t need. So they lost me.

Any alternate that doesn’t chew resources and custom block incoming and outgoing traffic.

Sean, perhaps time to move on. Waiting for the new MBP's.
Linux, "shorewall" and "fail2bal" does enough on the firewall side. FREE.

The free version does everything I need. Does not come with all the bells and whistles of Zone alarm, but I have never needed more...
