Photoshop CS6 pricing

You are very fortunate, the student versions are insanely cheap. Go for the full Creative suite, I advised someone to buy it (rather than get it illegally) and they were very impressed.

I admit I sulked just a little...

boy that used to bite when you dont have the student discounts anymore... upgrades where quite steep, but I see now that the design edition upgrade has dropped to about R4,000

It's a special order and requires a letter from the institution they study at to confirm they are studying in a field that would require that package (and a student card, etc)

Am I also correct in saying that if you go for the student package - you have to get the full suite and not only CS6? - then when you finish your (so-called ) studies - you have to buy upgrades for the full suite? I mean you dont stay a student for the rest of your life?

As far as I can tell, the student package is not a good option. I still prefer the box and disk. Just dont like what Adobe does to the price of it

yes... but the upgrade for master was between R12k and R14k... now it's down to R4,000... so not a bad deal...

You dont remain a student forever and at some stage you will have to buy an upgrade....if you get CS6 now at a student price it'll serve you well for quite a while.....It is also a box set

Also received an email from "The Applecart" a week later that you could get CS6 for free if you recently purchased CS5.5. Now, it seems thats not the case... Soon to be a very peeved CS6 owner.

Is this changing? It has always been Adobe policy that if you buy an old version within a month of a new release, they will give you the update free. I have a colleague that recently bought LR3, I mentioned the policy, he contacted Adobe and they shipped a new box to him with LR4 (he bought the digital download originally)

Well I hope not. My Mac reseller said there will be a discount for 5.5 owners but Adobe is continuously changing their policies.

You raised a valid question, and Adobe has a lot to answer for, particularly re. its SA pricing structure. You have also raised the important difference between a digital download and a physical disc in a box. I for one prefer the physical disc, and have been prepared to pay extra for that "luxury".

I'm curious though..... The guys like Wolf, who are still on CS2, but using the latest cameras..... How do you guys manage to handle your RAW files?

Purchases after 26 March 2012 will qualify for a free upgrade to Creative Suite 6. Please go to http://www.adobe.com/go/pa When you follow the directions it will ask you to sign into your Adobe ID and then you'll be taken to a form where you can submit your information to claim your free upgrade. You'll need your Serial Number and a scanned copy of your receipt from your reseller.

Well basically I've switched to CAPTURE NX for the bulk of my PP. Use photoshop only very occassionaly, mostly for specialised tools like the clone tool to clone out obstructive elements like phone lines. First I do a tiff conversion if I plan to work CS2 on the image, then reconvert back to RAW. Cumbersome, but do-able,

Sorry for resurrecting an older thread but I stumbled across this when looking for PS CS6 info.

Was shocked at Adobe trying to force non US credit card folks to pay $850.50 as apposed to what they advertise in all their literature on websites and email of $699.
