    Default Photoshop CS6 pricing

It looks like the full version of Photoshop CS6 is now available, but it's more expensive than I originally thought.

I have CS4, so for me to upgrade (as for anyone who has CS 3, 4 or 5) is $245 (roughly R2000). Whereas the full version is a whopping $849.

It used to be $699 for the full version, so it seems Adobe are really turning the screws on, or they are really pushing for their cloud offering.

So who here is going to upgrade?

Elsa & Hannes, tsk tsk, now you know what ODP offers... friendly advice, good coffee, free forum, galleries and classifieds. And you dont need to waste bandwidth on the download... If you do however feel its not worth it, no need to mention it.

I am not sure how you get $199, as I logged into adobe and checked and this is the price I get, no matter the choice. Unless you get a cheaper one?

    Can you show a screenshot?

Also remember that you cant just take the current R/$, as the bank will charge you about 2% in addition. So currently, ABSA will charge you R8.00/$ (http://www.absa.co.za/Absacoza/Indic...Exchange-Rates).

    8 x $245 = R1960

ah okey - so we are getting closer to the story now. In other words - you offer boxed versions met n disk. This is one problem I have with downloads. I do prefer having a disk and box on my hand (and in my safe)

I feel its important to get the whole story out - so we can make an educated decision. I have had lots of issues with Adobe in the past - so I regard a download always with suspicion.

Ok, I see that if I use a different browser it shows this price ($199), so if you choose the region of South Africa, then you get the inflated price ($245).

It's good to be South African!

If you try and purchase with another region, you get an error and it wont complete the purchase.

Sean yes - I have to agree that I am very very upset about that too. I really dont mind paying - but I do have a problem being ripped off. I feel very ripped off and need to make very sure I do the right thing before I make another financial error.

Now I can understand with shipping involved, that there are extra costs. But not direct download. Pure discrimination against certain countries, or is it that extra procedures that have to be put in place for all the fraud coming from certain places in Africa.

So how much have one spend, say if you started with CS3 = $x, then upgrade CS4, more moolas, CS5, again, then CS6.

We have had the same gemors with software development tools, that at the end of the day we were forced to use the competitor’s software.

As a first time buyer, rent or go for it. ?

Is there a cross grade license fee, from WIN to MAC ?

    Hahahaha... if only...

We started with Photoshop 7, bought CS Design edition (used all the extras there) upgraded to CS2 Design, Bought CS3 to get rid of the "design" upgrade package, upgraded to CS4 photoshop only and upgraded to CS5 because of the "upgrade limitation" announced last year.

Upgrades for the standard photoshop is about R2k a pop, and design upgrades was about R7k if I remember correctly. Full packages were about R7,5k for stand alone, and the design was about R16k (long time ago, not sure) - we used to run 2 sets of everything because each package is only registering 2 licences (and we both had a workstation and shooting notebook)

Since CS5 we have a single package - only working on the 2x 17" MBP's now for everything

I think so. I went from Win CS3 to Mac CS5 at the standard upgrade fee. I also got to keep the CS3 lisence which is useful for small jobs on my office Win based laptop.

You are very fortunate, the student versions are insanely cheap. Go for the full Creative suite, I advised someone to buy it (rather than get it illegally) and they were very impressed.

    I admit I sulked just a little...
