Default Nikon AF NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED OR THE Sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM.

Please help. Does the exta 100mm make up for the quality of the Nikkor?

I have both the Nikkor and the Sigma mentioned although the Sigma is the pre OS model.
As I use these lenses on a tripod and very seldom use the VR on the Nikkor my experience is that there is not that much difference in quality where you consider the difference in price between the two.
I'm never serious unless I have to be.
