I have never tried to connect my camera via usb to the ipad... I have the "old" connector kit, bit I think its the same thing...

So how did you get images off cf cards?

Never tried... Not enough space on an ipad for any biggish shoot... I did use it a few time during workshops, but the SD cards from the Fuji X100 worked better

CF card in camera, camera to ipad via connection kit and camera USB cable. Ipad picks it up automatically once you switch camera on and asks if you want to import into iphoto. Works well. Just takes forever to copy.

If you have 2 card slots - Cf card in camera.....Raw, SD Eye Fi Card in camera - small jpeg.....switch on Ipad and shoot & direct wireless transfer from camera to Ipad.....Toys R Us

Bringing up an old gripe. I want the camera connection kit purely to preview pics, not clutter space with pics I would down load later to my computer, hence R300 kit seldom used and gathering dust!

No, the eye-fi card creates it's own hotspot.
