Talking about cost - fancy spending 100 000 GBP on a lens. 6mm f2.8 = viewing angle of 220°.

1200 is still small fry. Canon made many years ago a 5200mm f14 lens. Only ever made 3 copies. http://www.outdoorphoto.co.za/forums...1&d=1169756917

... and there I was thinking the 'pimple-on-an-elephant's-butt-at-5-km' photographic special interest group was so prolific!

I can just see it ... 'I need help! I'm hand-holding my 5200 f14 lens at 1/60th of a second and I just can't get sharp images! Is there something wrong with my camera focussing system or is the lens just not working the way it's supposed to?'

Jokes aside though, that has got to be an extremely specialised lens. I presume they were made for surveillance, space launch photography, and the like. I can't see what other uses they would have TBH, except maybe the papparazzi hunting the royal family on a secluded beach somewhere.
